Hmmmm, Ball usually defends a bit better than Garrido, maybe Hughes thought with Robbie on the left we needed a left back who is better at defending and that getting down his line wasn't as important cos Robbie can terrorise people by himself cos the guy is FUCKING BRILLIANT

the reason is ball is a better premiership defender out of the two. Im not a big fan of either but ball was a freebie and garrido was 1.5 m so both have proved value for money! garridos positional play has been shocking as has balls passing. Saying that i do think garrido has played his best games for us of late though. The main problem is they get exposed because of whos in front of them, petrov or robinho just dont defend like swp does in front of zab. we need a left back with pace and commitment is the answer to that problem. AND THATS NOT WAYNE BRIDGE

He's usually better defensively, who's the better all round fulkl back is debatable IMO

Ball being a better defender is a myth. His positioning is awful as he often thinks he is playing centre back, Ball can usually be found standing on Dunnes toes or hiding directly behind him! Also in the 1st 20 mins yesterday Ball was easily beaten on 3 or 4 occasions and gave away a couple of stupid free kicks. Balls passing (if it can be called that) is also woeful!
Dont get me wrong Garrido is not the answer despite having improved a lot this season but he is twice the player Ball is!
