I live in Oldham and was in the town centre early morning shopping, couldn't walk for the wind and there were bits of roofs all over the place, not for the first time Oldham looked like it'd been bombed overnight.
I was really surprised the game went ahead....the wind although we weren't very good at the time was a great leveler for them.
Went to Coventry away around this time on one of Donalds coaches. Fucking nutsCoventry City, Feb 1980. 0-0. I took my match programme down to wythenshawe park the following week, where city used to train on the grass by the running track, and got it signed by most of the squad.
Stoke away circa 1976...pitch invasion and invaded their Boothen end. Sorry
I went on the official coach trip under the supervision of Helen and her bell. There was no nonsense on Helen's watch I can tell you.Went to Coventry away around this time on one of Donalds coaches. Fucking nuts
yep big open endDon't be sorry, for many of us it was best part of going to football, I can't remember more than a handful of match results from back then but I can recall loads of trivial shite from away trips with mates.
Re Stoke away, I'm sure I remember a Friday night away game, maybe due to fixture congestion but it was when they still had the big open end and we filled it, newspaper report next day said something along the lines of; 'The Manchester City fans came in their thousands and created a huge sea of blue & white.' Like I said, loads of trivial shite.
I never went on city supporters club coaches but did hear about her supervision techniquesI went on the official coach trip under the supervision of Helen and her bell. There was no nonsense on Helen's watch I can tell you.
