First away game.

Stoke around 1974, like a scene from Syria after the game , City fans smashed the place to bits.

11/11/72 Everton 2-3 City
Ripe old age of 9.
Great kit that day too.

Talking of Oldham and weather, was anyone there around 88 when Megson scored and we won 1-0. Coldest I’ve been at a football game.

Lets not forget that George Weah made his City debut in a pre-season friendly at Boundary Park. One if the most surreal days of my life (at that point); i was pregnant with my eldest junior blue and winners got the undying support of the baby - shes blue to this day :-)

I went on the official coach trip under the supervision of Helen and her bell. There was no nonsense on Helen's watch I can tell you.

Never travelled with her but remember her trying to get us all off the pitch at a pre-season friendly at Morecambe, formidable woman.

Tranmere 97/98. Someone had a promotional cardboard cut out of shearer with a full city strip on. I just remember everyone laughing.

Stoke 75/76?, shop windows smashed everywhere between Etruria and the ground, police on horseback, horrible game , 4-0 loss I think. Dad took us in the paddock right on the halfway line, their fullback( Pejic I think) ripped Tuearts shirt pulling him back, Dennis then took it off and thrust it into Pejics hand as if to say have the effing thing if you want it that bad, that happened right in front of us. Went to the league cup final in 74,2-1 loss to wolves, not sure that counts as away though.

First away game at the swamp 0-0 April 1973 went with my mate and his Dad as a treat for his birthday ; very quiet all game as we were stood in the Stretford end paddock. Went again the following year in the Denis Law game but in the United Road always remember the first pitch invasion at 2.30

First proper away Leicester 1975, Mike Doyle in goal for 80 minutes and lost 1-0 in the last minute

My first away match was Spurs on Saturday 11th Dec 1976. I still have the ticket from my childhood ticket collection, it was £1.50 in their East Stand. I've just looked it up and the match was 2-2 but my main memory is of Ralph Coates' comb-over becoming dislodged and floating about disconcertingly during the match in an asymmetric hairy horror show.

Middlesbrough in 84, 0 - 0

Always been a jinx game Boro away. Went on the city special train. Always remember the buffet car and buying the sausage rolls on the way back from the game.

Remember getting drenched there in August
Left home in glorious sunshine so didn't need coat
Open end at Oldham and the heavens opened

I went to that game on the bus. Don’t think I have ever got so wet. Didn’t take a cost either. Remember the rain cascading down the steps it rained non stop.
