First Ferran Soriano interview

Nothing new there. Everyone ought to have grasped what we are doing now. As a model and vision, I really like the Barcelona model though and of all, and if I had a free choice it'd be the one I'd have. I just don't think we're as far down the road as they think, we're right at the start as far as I'm concerned, and I'm not sure they have the understanding in how to accelerate the process having arrived half way through at Barcelona.

If he wants harmony in the stands though, maybe he's best off telling Vicky Kloss to lay off the slagging off of Mancini through her briefed journos. As most City fans hold Mancini in reverence, that sort of shit is counter-productive besides being stupid and unnecessary. If Mancini had gone off on one, I'd understand the need for the club to defend itself, but Mancini has been very classy and has done but one thing in paying for a superb ad thanking the fans. The club let itself down and wasn't very on-message with its own bloody message of harmony.

Interesting stuff. Don't think it's necessary to still be going on about Mancini. Thought he got it right the other day with the "new cycle" comments. We should just leave it at that now.

I've always been intrigued by the DoF/continental structure, will be interesting to see how it works.

Why all the references to United though? Every piece I read about City contains a comparison to the Rags. We are City. Why don`t they compare it to City of 2008 and show how far we`ve progressed? Or would that be something positive?
Pisses me right off.

Coup for Ladyman. A lot of city fans slate the guy but I'd take note of what he writes in the coming months. He's got his finger on the pulse as they say when it comes to us.
It was hardly a ladyman exclusive, its been in at least 4 other newspapers, quoted in the Pellegrini thread.

Its a good read nonethless, and shows that the club is thinking years ahead, not one season, which anyone who has been watching events carefully over the last nearly 4 years already knew.

MCFC is in very good hands, the only thing that worries me is that the cost of following the club is pricing out many true blues.

I don't think it's any secret that our owners are looking long term,it makes sense if you've got 7yr olds playing a certain way,by the time they reach 17 it'll be 2nd nature & if you've got 5 or 6 of them in the same side, you've got a 10 year head start on other teams.I think this is where the rag's have done ok,but as Snr Soriano says,to do this with one manager is very difficult(their's only been 1 to my thinking as I don't think winning nothing for 10 yrs(Arse)is that successful),so we implement a philosophy & system, bring in the required coach, then develop our own internal coaching infrastructure,e.g. Pelligrini> Pep> Viera> Vinny>etc being developed for their roles every 3-8 years. It's what Barca are doing,it's easier to implement & is more sustainable long term in my view.

He seems impressive and it's comforting to know the vision we're striving for is that of barcas.. I like how he said the minute he saw those photos of Mancini and balo scrapping he knew there was nothing to it, mustve been a regular thing!

Very positive stuff & a very clear explanation of the reason for Roberto's sacking.
Door wide open for Pep in a few years too.
He's still a twat and always will be.

This is not a coup for Ladyman it would seem he briefed journalists for 45mins about his thoughts on City

He comes across as an intelligent thoughtful impressive guy very much in the Khaldoon mould

I can now see the vision.....the DoF lays down a long term strategy for the type of football we play and the manager works within that BUT having the option to tweak it.

I'm really glad about that as it was the one thing i was worried about with this new approach. Last thing you want is the managers hands tied tactically when the normal system just isn't working.
