And collecting number plate prefixes in my i-spy book of number plates. The first three letters designated in which area of Britain the plate was issued. LNB would have been Manchester for example.
Ah hem....close but it was the last 2 of the 3. Manchester went from NA to NF. Cornwall was CV, AF and RL. I only know this because I was a sad child and used to go to Cornwall a lot. The original Manchester plates was just letter N followed by a number.
