Fixture Congestion

Is it at all possible that we could play the week of March 17th? Has UEFA granted dispensation for league matches to be put on during CL weeks previously due to cancellations?

I can understand UEFA looking askance at a Cup replay I guess, but a league fixture make-up due to unsafe conditions like the Sunderland match is a bit different.

Is it anything to do with UEFA? Of course if we're still in the CL, it's a moot point ;)

I'd say we will play Sunderland the Wednesday before we play them in the final
We cant due to champions league fixtures.
This is a UEFA guideline, but it's not set in stone. There have been Premier League games in the past on CL nights (I think there was even one last season, maybe involving Villa).

UEFA's main objection is to leagues scheduling an entire round of games on the same night. One-off games aren't really the issue, especially if they are not televised.

Fixture congestion is the price we are paying for success, long may it continue as far as I am concerned.!

Exactly. We are the great Manchester City and we don't worry about anything/anyone. The Boys in Blue never give in, they fight to the end and will continue to do so through fixture congestion, wind, rain, snow, storms.

Oops we didn't play through the storm but that was for OUR safety, the fans. :-)

Lets hope to God we don't draw with Wigan or there's another fixture to try and squeeze in somewhere!

It won't be an issue if we fail to get past Barcelona, it's only if we progress in the Champion's League that available midweek dates start to become scarce. We also need to factor in, for the rearranged Sunderland match, that they too might have to replay their FA Cup Quater Final, and they'll have 2 midweeks already accounted for (the Capital One Cup Final weekend rearranged match, and the FA Cup Quarter Final rearranged match).

Yhe night mare scenario here would be City having to play Saturday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday in the last couple of weeks of the season. Regardless of the quality of your players a fixture list like that will take it's toll.

In March 2012, Liverpool faced Everton on a night of Champions League action.
