As it happens, I won’t be able to make this one now due to being at a gig the same night but give me a Friday night match over a Monday night every time. Start of the weekend for most fans rather than the start of the working or school week. Sky have been doing Friday night PL games for years now and most teams have had more than us. Also, at least it’s not someone like Bournemouth or one of the London clubs where the visiting fans won’t be able to get the train home.
Shack?

Bit off topic but anyone remember City 0-1 Bury on the Friday night at Maine road?

Protest outside afterwards - I got stood on by a horse

Great days

Maybe getting mixed up with Huddersfield? That was a Friday night and a bit of a Swales Out outside the main entrance afterwards.

No mate, it was against Bury on the Saturday - i got mixed up.
I just googled and found this from the M.E.N.

“Within three days of Paul Butler’s headed winner for the Shakers at Maine Road, manager Frank Clark was out of the door and Joe Royle appointed.
Clark’s reign was brief and bitter and came to an end amid angry scenes at Maine Road, as 3,000 supporters besieged the main gates, demanding change”

Always a bit surprised that friday night isn't more popular among fans for games. Yes, I get that people like to have a night out at the end of the week, and that football wouldn't be what they'd have in mind. But if I was fortunate enough to be living close-ish to the ground, and had a seasoncard, I'd prefer to go on a friday night than on a monday night. I was going to ask about travel issues, but wouldn't they be the same on monday night as on friday?

Generally agree, esp if you want to make an evening of it, though trains and trams much quieter on a Monday night and a taxi easier than a Friday for obvious reasons.
