Florian Wirtz

In the German press, I am sure it was said that his Dad and the family support Bayern and they also think for the benefit of the national team it's best he goes Bayern.
Was it a direct quote from his dad? If not who knows how accurate it is. As I said the perception of the dad might not be accurate.

Haaland didn’t listen to his Dad when he joined City and when he signed a 10 year contract.

These players need to grow up and make their own decisions, stop employing their parents as agents.

I don’t think so. To say he would get better numbers in an inferior league is only logical.
that league isnt inferior..

Look at the players that have come from it just with us alone.....What makes it seem inferior is that Bayern just absolutely dominate it due to the resources and reputation they have (thats why they are known as the german rags!)

6: Rodri / Nico G
8: MGW / ??
10: Wirtz / Foden

One more than we think to stay from the Uncs or a cheeky 3rd CM in from the random names list Sara, Akliouche, etc
It’ll be MGW, Gundo and probably Kovacic, plus Nico G is as much of an 8 as he is a 6.

MGW is more of a 10 than anything.

KDB, Bernardo and Grealish all out.

Probably should have split them 6/8 and 8/10 tbf.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Sara is the 6 and Nico is the 8.

Presumably if it’s MGW and Wirtz then Bernardo follows KDB out the door. Very possibly followed by Kovacic and Grealish.

Rodri
(Nico)

Foden
(MGW)

Wirtz
(Gundogan)

That’s how I imagine it would look if we got them both. Probs see Wirtz and/or Foden get a lot of mins out wide also

Impressive team on paper...serious depth

The standard is decent but it’s massively uncompetitive but the German model makes it hard to challenge the existing order. Bayern’s previous success allowed them to keep increasing their financial advantage over the rest which allows them to increase their footballing advantage over the league. Means they can usually pick up any talent in Germany. Dortmund have previously run them close but Bayern just snap up their best players, often on Bosman’s, this making it really hard to stop them.

Nothing untoward about it but the difficulty in bringing in external investment makes it really difficult to change the hegemony.

Yeah, can see that. Wonder if they hold off on buying the 3rd CM till Jan (Bouaddi?) or the following summer (Wharton?) and let Kova/Gundo share that last spot and then replace them in Phase 2.

Think thats more than likely for the 3 rd mid, Gungogan definitely staying and Kovacic maybe staying means spaces needed for fullback(s)

I think we’re going to have box clever on homegrown players. If MGW replaces Grealish it only leaves us with MGW, Carson and the perennially injured Ake and Stones. Could see us chance our arm for Branthwaite if we can shift both. With McAtee off there’s a few empty spots.

I could see Liverpool in for Wharton this summer so we may be in stick or twist territory this year.

Full backs have me scratching my head we’ve been heavily linked with Cambiaso so between himself, O’Reilly and Gvardiol we should be ok there.

Will we stick with Nunes at right back though? Interested to see if we go for someone like Frimpong as he’d fit in with the current full back setup plus he would count as club trained. As it stands we have Akanji, Nunes and Lewis there but Lewis is never going to make it at fullback.

Think Josko will be the starting CB now with Ake as backup, Cambiaso and Nico at LB.

Right Back i think will be the curveball name no one expects. Dont rate Frimpong there so hope its not him and dont think it well be.
