Why are people so sure we have no chance to get him this summer? Maybe there's something I'm missing. If we were willing to pay 80M for Paqueta and 90M for Rice then we can and should pay 100M for a tremendous talent like Wirtz. Besides, why don't we offer them McAtee in exchange for a loan? It's a win-win situation for all parties. I would even send Oscar Bobb there to get minutes.

Don`t forget Bernardo could walk on a free in 12 months and this guy would be perfect to replace him. Get him in now (if we can) to bide us over the KDB issue then next season he replaces Bernardo.
Hope we get him in but also get Doku. I think we need both, i.e.
- another CM option in case of a Foden injury to add to KDB's current state.
- a winger with pace to give us an extra dimension.
Hopefully that'd still allow plenty of games for the entire squad.

As some posters have already mentioned, we would have to offer 100m quid from the get-go and McAtee on loan to have any chance of making this happen. Even then, the player might opt to stay, or Bayer might not be willing to let go of their biggest asset just yet.

Agreed but we are very predictable and sometimes we need to mix it up a bit. The need is great and this guy will be more expensive next year. He’s not going to be a a Phillips MK2.

We have a better track record of scouting the bundesliga than most clubs. I can't think of another club in England that would have found Akanji for 19 million.But could he be an Ozil / Havertz / Werner Mark II?
