A bit surprised we haven’t dipped into the German market a bit more over the years. Most of our signings from there have been more than decent going back many years.
The only real failures were probably Frontzek and weirdly Boateng, who ended up winning absolutely everything with Bayern and Germany

Watched a lot of Boateng before and after us, with the benefit of hindsight I get the feeling he just didn’t want to be here, for whatever reason.

I honestly believe he came to us to join Bayern.
Hamburg had no intention of selling him to Bayern, so we were used to get him there.
We made money and he gets to play for the club he wanted to.

Oh and he was the German Titus Bramble for me. Looked decent but had a big mistake in him every game.

The hostess ran a trolley into his knee IIRC. reaggravated a bad injury.

Did Mancini also apparently not let him be with his wife at the birth of their child. Mancini promised him he was going to play and needed him but instead just stuck him on the bench.
