Idk how anyone can argue with this take. The board never give Pep what he wants and he’s always been forced to turn water into wine. But he’s also made mistakes but not seeing that this squad and system was outdated. He also started to make bad judgement calls but i think after magically winning 4 in a row he wanted to retire but couldn’t because he’d leave us in a worst state than Ferguson did with his team. So now he has to make sure we have the best possible players so we can still try be successful after he leaves. Wirtz would guarantee success like Haaland did and it wouldn’t matter who takes over after him. Thats how I see it

Fairs but Yamal is generational. Lot of pressure to put on a kid who’s never played in England let along Europe. Cherki is right there for 30m I beg you lot watch atleast 5 of his games this season
 
The only plus side to losing out on Wirtz is that atleast we won’t have a player who doesn’t like us. He isn’t in love with us the way Haaland or Dias does. We tried everything maybe we’ll get lucky and someone will bang so hard for us we’ll look back at this time and laugh. Barca were horrible for a bit now they have the 2 of the best players in the world. You never know what can happen in football.

Not sure I follow, have we missed out on plan B and C too?
 
It’s also far too soon to believe a lot that’s going round. We’ve had all this before and although it’s probably likely he’ll go to Bayern I’ll wait for for concrete links

I agree about not panic buying and settling for an expensive B player but what makes you think Exheverri is anything close to Yamal?!

What's plan B and C after missing a generational talent?

I agree with Dam, we've let too much talent go recently and ended up buying worse players. Give Echeverri a go, and the u21s ect(Mukasa et al) that's brimming with attacking talent.

what, you think plan B would be a significant downgrade on a ‘generational talent’? I’m sure in the past and present team many of our main contributors to what we’ve acheived were plan b, c and possibly d.

I can only think of Palmer who we’ve let go can be considered a definite mistake in high sight. The rest I’m not so sure. Good players but not the exceptional talent for the first team.
Difficult decisions on trusting the youngsters or buying in. People at club paid big bucks for that.

Exactly, everybody is excited over Wirtz cos he’s a foreign player in a foreign league, how many people claiming a number ten whose had 2 good years in a lesser league is a ‘marquee’ signing we’re going to rue have actually regularly seen him play.

People just say things into reality.

Wirtz is Champions League proven — Palmer isn’t. You could easily go down that route, too.

The amount of Man of the Match awards Wirtz racked up in his very first Champions League season is absolutely astonishing.

He’s not KDB, Zidane or Kaka is he mate, we’re talking about a very good player but we’re also talking as if we’ve missed out on a generational talent, which he isn’t.

If he wants Bayern then good luck to him, personally not arsed at all, he doesn’t excite me enough to be upset about it.

Musiala is the more special player.

Top 10 Ballon d’Or in his first proper season — that’s quite generational to me.

I haven’t seen a more exciting attacking midfielder since KDB.
