Florian Wirtz

Seems we've agreed to, or at least not blinked at, the fee Leverkusen want, yet Munich have done that typical Munich thing of approaching the player first and agreeing terms with them. No wonder Leverkusen are pissed. They could well be using us to push the fee up, and good on them if they are.

Way I read it is Wirtz would be happy to go to Munich, it may be his preferred choice, but as there is no fee agreed it's certainly not a done deal. It's not that Wirtz has said no to City, it's just that there have not been any talks yet. Clearly, for us, we're not wanting to have those talks until we know of were on the champions league next season.

Leverkusen clearly would prefer him to choose us as it protects them domestically from a rival and gets a bigger fee than Munich would prefer to pay. It's not as if Munich will be more open to sending players to Leverkusen, unlike City.

Whilst the player may be ok with staying one more year and then going to Munich on a lower fee, or no fee at all (a known Munich tactic), clearly Leverkusen are not when the choice could literally be €100m+ now or half that in a year for a guy with on year left on his contract. They also face something of a rebuilt, Frimpong likely to go too, new manager, so have to have some clarity themselves from their player soon.

If we start to see quotes from the lakes of Hoeness and Rumennigge decrying foreign investment in football, oil money, inflated prices ruining the Bundesliga and English football being just very evil in general, then we know something is moving along.

they are going to lose tah, frimpong and the manager this year, it would be helpful for them to have clarity for the new manager id think as you said

Steve Jobs asked John Sculley, the CEO of Pepsi, when Apple was looking to get a "formal" CEO: Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life, or come with me and change the world?

Pep to Flo: Want to go to Bayern and help them win another title or come with me and win everything?

Wirtz born in Pulheim 39km from Leverkusen the closest Bundesliga club to his home town Munich is 584km so surely he isn't a Bayern fan?
Bayern are the German rags disliked by all other clubs and fans so what is this alleged pull to them

His sister Juliane plays for Werder Bremen Women get her to sister to City

Father and agent is Hans Joaichem can't find much about him aside from he was a player in the lower German leagues

One big obstacle is Florian is sponsored by Adidas as is Bayern and with the rivalry (family feud) between them and Puma I see Adidas doing everything to stop him moving to City

The situation with Alonso and his possible move to Real could be a factor, if Alonso does end up at Real then maybe Florian will stay at Leverkusen one more year to open the door to Real, although he has in the past said he was a Barca fan as a boy and that would be his dream move

Tad entitled to suggest we will win everything

Not difficult to see that Wirtz wants Bayern, but as usual they want to pay a pittance knowing that is where he wants to go, and who can blame them?

Leverkusen would prefer to sell to us obviously, more money and gets him out of the league.

City happy to stay in the picture for now, at worst we end up making Bayern pay more than they want.

What we don’t want is to sit around too long, but pretty sure we will be looking at other targets anyway.

Genuinely still overwhelmed — ever since the moment the news broke earlier today, I’ve been on cloud nine. What a day, lads. What a feeling. Seeing him wear that number 10 soon, it’s going to hit different.

This isn’t just a transfer — it’s the start of something historic.

A new chapter.

A new era.

Let it begin.

The Transfer Forum is never complete without its resident lunatic.

You are this year's.

No direct quotes from him about wanting Bayern seems to be that his parents want Bayern

It was reported that they fee will be higher for Bayern than any club that aren't rivals and outside German

I'm more than happy to be proven wrong with this and would welcome it really, but I have this feeling at the back of my mind that Wirtz isn't what we need. For this next evolution of what football looks like, for all the commotion around him, the indecisiveness, something feels off, and the combination of Gibbs-White and Reijnders feels more suited, maybe with a winger that adds creativity and goals.

It’s only a matter of time until he’s here — I have no doubt about that. I don’t see a single scenario where he doesn’t end up wearing Sky Blue.
