Regardless your maths is off, Haaland's is over 10 years, Wirtz would be €300m over 5 years.
 
The last great signing we made in midfield was Rodri in the 19/20 season since then we have spent

50 million on Kalvin Phillips
11 million on Perrone who's not here anymore
62 million on Nunes
30 million on Kovacic he's been decent but injuries
Free transfer on Gundogan
60 million on Gonzalez who can't get a game

Midfield recruitment has been poor. We've won multiple league titles of course we have but the planning in midfield for the future has been all over the place and this season is where its showed

We chose him. He’s played his part. What I would say is Pep isn’t playing him right and for me he could easily fit into the KDB role, but, as showed on Saturday, Pep won’t play him so I suspect his a goner.

Too much disrespect on him though on here. I’m sure you would have been one defending the fee, saying it’s not his fault when we signed him and the pile on was on. Yet here we are now with people like you, using it as a stick to beat him with. He’s a fucking City player.

The market is pretty fucked at the moment. No stand out players anywhere really, no one needs to sell, getting a big signing wrong fucks you for three or four years, no value whatsoever in the market. I think Wirtz got people excited because really he's the only player on the market who is remotely exciting.

No idea. Perhaps he was the right player for that time.

We never won it with Toure, Silva, Kompany and Aguero though, even though they were better players with us for a longer period of time.

They're both under contract, so there's not a lot we can do. Gundogan will likely be getting groomed for command, though, and he'll be retiring next summer, so we'll be keeping him around to become a coach in 2026.

But the thing is, we're still looking for 2-3 midfielders and are likely just keeping Gundogan and Bernardo around for experience and leadership. If either of them reach 1,000 minutes next season I'll be surprised.

A bit like Yaya in 17/18, who was technically still part of the squad but had Fernandinho, Gundogan, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, and De Bruyne in front of him all year and started precisely one game in the PL.
