Florian Wirtz

Reijnders is the Serie A midfielder of the season.

If Foden pulls his finger out he could easily be close to current De Bruyne creativity levels.

Livramento is rapid and alongside Doku, we have some serious pace down the flanks.

Gibbs White is an option, but I reckon we can sign someone cheaper than Wirtz (€150m) and he can be worth his money
That leagues made Mctominay look good. I’m happy with the Reijnders signing, he’s an improvement on an aging Gundo, who wouldn’t be though.

Pace down the side yeah, but absolute zero end product, our wingers are average at best.

There is still a chronic creativity issue…

Yeah and judging by social media I think Slot was in Spain anyway when that meeting news was coming out... Maybe he was in a video call or something, who knows. I think this Sasha fella might be a chancer, and just got one bit of info, merely that he chose Liverpool first. He could well have concocted a story around the info.
To be fair he’s been spot on about a lot and we all know how erratic transfers can be at this level.

At the end of the day once the new hits that’s when we start to see a narrative that gets clicks/sells papers.

They will spin this so many different ways.

MGW is not a player who wins you either the CL or the PL.....not even close - another overrated average and soon to be overpriced english player.

And Marmoush is a great goal scorer but he is not a creative no.10
A midfield of Reijnders, MGW and Rodri plus a fit and firing Foden is easily good enough to win the PL. The Dippers midfield that just won the PL Gravenberch, MacAlister and Szoboszlai whilst decent is nothing special. Obviously the addition of Wirtz will improve their creativite options.

We used to do our business early. Until we started chasing players like Bellingham Rice and Wirtz who all had no interest in joining - and wasted weeks of planning time.

Then we had the time wasted chasing Paqueta when obvious no due diligence had been done.

Used to be class operators - now it’s amateur hour.

The January tfr window was a disgrace. £200m spent - Reis Khusanov Echeverri Nico and Bah won’t get 50 starts between them in their City careers
We need to keep this post for everyone to see in future years

Yes but I'm not a big fan of these £100m+ signings. Too much can go wrong. PSG look a lot better now they've abandoned the policy of signing the likes of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi. And Real Madrid signing Mbappe hasn't improved them. No coincidence PSG and Inter are CL finalists. For me, the future lies in signing the right cogs for the machine rather than the biggest available star.
This all day long

Firstly KDB is tier 1 prem of all time with Henry.

The way he’s done it and how he’s completely taken over a generation means he’s the very best. 1000’s of players have come to the prem and never reached that height. Kev is our greatest player of all time and even if Foden was in that conversation but not as considered the best you can always say he never lived up to KDB. What type of argument is that? That’s like Barca saying a player won’t be as good as Messi ffs.

These aren’t bang average players they are players ready to take the next step. Something we’ve built a dynasty around. Training under one of the greatest ever, with exceptional players which some are world class, playing the very best teams means players develop. Especially when the very best is demanded from them. If they take that step then they are great signings.

We are Manchester City, not Real Madrid. I don’t want us to sign primadonna’s that want a new contract every summer. I want us to sign players that fall in love with the club, the fans etc. That know the club support them wholeheartedly. Look at Bernie when he scored the other day. That’s what we want. Not an Mbappe sulking every day of the week.
I was replying to someone who made the direct comparison with Foden & De Bruyne.

Silva has been great for us but he's wanted to leave for 4 seasons.

I agree about the primadonna's bit. But, we've found ourselves signing pretty average players which has led to us having a pretty average season this season.

There's ten clubs round Europe that can compete with us on and off the pitch as an attractive package. That's football. Don't think we need all this self-flagellating even if it is disappointing.

Scott McTominay has been Napoli's best midfielder and he's fucking shite so that tells you all you need to know about Serie A.

Foden, for as good as he's been, will never reach KDB levels. That's just delusion at it's finest.

Livramento is bang average.

Gibbs White is also bang average.

All well and good signing these players but where's the world class players to supplement them?

Agree on McTominay, weird seeing him do so well, either it’s a shit league or he’s actually decent and it was just the rags making him shit, which is more likely tbh!

If we get this season’s Foden then he’s nowhere near prime KDB, nor even old KDB. If he can find his previous form then he’s good enough.

Disagree on Livramento, I think he’s quality and would be a top signing.

Gibbs White is a huge fucking disappointing target, nowhere near Wirtz/Rice/Bellingham level or even Guimaraes. I hope we don’t waste money on him and end up with another Phillips/Nunes.

No idea about Reijnders, never seen him play.

But we could do with a world class signing not only to improve us above this season’s dross but to give the whole image and perception of the club a boost.

Think we have a big enough sample to know United are actively making their players worse rather than they're consistently signing poor players. Their problem now is why would you go there and destroy your career unless you get paid top money for it.

McTominay is not shit? He was shit at the rags as they played him as a 6, Conte plays him as a 8 and scores goals for fun, he’s top 5 midfielders in Europe for goals and assists this season. He was instrumental in Scotland doing well as well. The rags just make players shit look at Antony he’s one of the best wingers in la liga this season.

If a player would rather go somewhere else then fine. Disappointing, but that’s football and we aren’t the only show in town.

It would be much more disappointing if we weren’t prepared to pay a package that Liverpool were.

Last season Foden was not far off KDB at all. But he needs to get that form back. I'm confident he will.

Nathan Ake was thought to be similar by some, how did that work out?
I loved that we signed Ake so fine by me

But this is a completely irrelevant statement as they font even play the same positions.

Yes he improves their creative options..so baring in mind they have just won the league at a canter that isnt good right from the off

The bit that you are not acknowledging either is that they have numerous players who score. fair amount of goals in across their forward positions while we dont besides Haaland and potentially Marmoush.
Macalister is a proven winner as well and I think we at one point were considering him as a Gundo replacement but we dithered on it

Do we know if Foden can get it back to the level he was...if its mental issues thats worse than a physical injury as you can recover from those almost with certainty - mental issues can go on for decades for some people even with help.

So while they are improving their creative options ours are not improving unless we bring a third midfielder in on top of the two potential/reported ones we are supposedly bringing in (MGW and Reignders) - while I like the look of Reignders, MGW is average - so are we relying on Reignders to be creative?
We cant rely on our wide players to create either.

That leaves us otherwise hoping that Oscar Bobb or Echevari can step up with the way the squad stands....now I love Oscar Bobb - again he looks like he has huge potential but I thought McAtee was going to make it (he isnt). Echevari -no idea - looks a good prospect but so many do at first and most dont go on to make it.

The other option is to add creativity from our fullbacks....None of our existing options give this...Gvardiol is very good going forward BUT I think his future is at centre half.

I think this is something that gets lost in translation between players and fans.

For instance I’m sitting here saying that if I was a football player I’d rather retire than play for United yet City fan Delap is going to sign for them.

Him wanting to leave for family reasons isn’t a reflection of his commitment to the club, in fact the fact he’s not caused more of an issue says like we agree on he’s not a primadonna and that’s what we want. Players that honour contracts and give 100% in the shirt.

I wouldn’t say Marmoush is average at all. Khusanov looks great and will develop really well, Reis ok we haven’t seen yet. Savio at the start of the season was being touted to go to Madrid after a few weeks. This season is completely different to normal in my opinion.

Its not about signing primadonnas - its about signing quality......

MGW doesnt represent quality - not even close to the level we are needing to replace - not even better than some of what we have had in recent years - you think he is as good as ANY of our main midfielders in their prime? He aint even close - not even in the same ball park - he may not be quite the disaster Nunes and Phillips were but I do think this has got averageness written all over it

Not KDB level obvious.
Is he bernardo level - NO
Is he gundo level. - No
Is he prime Foden level. - No
Rodri level - hahahahahaha - NO!

IS he even Kova level - maybe but that aint a good thing
grealish level - probably -again not a good thing

He doesnt even come close
