Florian Wirtz

You know you don't have to come onto the thread, right.
And check the post history, I don't, yet when I want to read about transfers I find this unecessary continuation of a thread at the top of the page, so in the spirit of an open forum asked the question why, appologies that I give zero shits about the eed scouse and don't obssess avput them like many do.

they can buy who they want, I have as much interest in their transfer activity as I do villa, brentford or burnley

Tbf, I rarely click on it myself, unless there is nothing on the other relevant transfer threads.

But we Were linked with the player, people Do fancy him. He is a big player and the transfer has yet to unfold.

Don't think it fair the rest should be deprived of the thread because you or I feel pissy about it, that's all.

You asking why, puts it back at the top of the thread though.

Damn, now look what you've made me do...

Most of this is untrue. You're just repeating dipper propaganda here.

Their net spend has historically always been relatively low. They boast about it, we laugh at it as we win all the trophies. It's not propaganda, it is there in the accounts. I don't care about who spends what, I care about City winning and that's what we have done for the majority of the past decade.

The move for Wirtz, to me is unexpected considering the sums involved. They certainly won't be winning the net spend trophy this season.

Their net spend last 5 years is -€320m. They don't sell well (Coutinho was an outlier) and they have spent a lot (particularly the past 5/6 years). And as others have said, they spend a lot on wages as well.

I work in Liverpool and talk to Liverpool fans all the time - the normal ones admit they spend loads, as that is the way of modern football.

I've checked their financial accounts and Liverpool spent £562m on players in FY20 to FY24, with a net spend of £376m. For comparison, City spent £400m net.

Wages aren't much different either: Liverpool's totalled £1.77bn and City's were £1.89bn.

As I said, what he was repeating was dipper propaganda.

The team was successful. Grealish was at best average.

Love the guy, but for 3 figures you want Haaland, Messi, Mbappe type numbers. Not that he 'participated' in the larger winning of trophies.

Akanji has been as successful as Jack in a City shirt. So, No! I wont consider Jack value for money. Love him and wish him well. Hope he goes to Napoli, joins Kev and teard up the Italian league.

Lovely human. Talented footballer. But an average individual career at City.
This whole grealish flopped with us is quite weird. Like, what was the expectation of him? 20 goals and assist per season? He has never been that kind of player, if im not mistaken, he joined us at a ripe age of 26 and he was never that kind of a player even at his peak with villa. I think pep had the thought that he could convert grealish into a bernie or kdb kinda player, wingers converted to midfielder but it didn't just work out consistently well because bernie and kdb was still world class and couldn't be pushed out. It's almost like he didnt flop but our unrealistic expectation of him made him flop so bad.

Hard to believe when salah mane and co got it so hard to get a good contract out of them

Age was against them.

Liverpool and FSG seem to like to hold out on the Wenger policy of 1 year rolling contracts for over 30 players.

Whether or not Salah's new contract works out remains to be seen, but we saw with Walker, Gundogan and KDB how quickly a world class player in their early 30's can decline very fast when getting close to 34/35.
