Florian Wirtz

Age was against them.

Liverpool and FSG seem to like to hold out on the Wenger policy of 1 year rolling contracts for over 30 players.

Whether or not Salah's new contract works out remains to be seen, but we saw with Walker, Gundogan and KDB how quickly a world class player in their early 30's can decline very fast when getting close to 34/35.
Salah was never injured compared to KDB or Walker. Thats the main difference in my opinion

Their net spend last 5 years is -€320m. They don't sell well (Coutinho was an outlier) and they have spent a lot (particularly the past 5/6 years). And as others have said, they spend a lot on wages as well.

I work in Liverpool and talk to Liverpool fans all the time - the normal ones admit they spend loads, as that is the way of modern football.
hmmm

And portrayed as "good business " by their media lackeys.

Well, he is 22, was world-class last season for them, and I think that's about the going rate, but he still has to prove himself in the best league in the world! So, at the moment, it looks about right. Deal.

Wirtz better defensively but Cherki is on another planet creatively. Wirtz is creative as well but Cherki is just on another level. 30 minute cameo for France and he made 4 key passes an assist and a wonder goal.

You go through every Lyon game last season he’s just phenomenal. Football is easy for him. Creativity is off the charts

I've checked their financial accounts and Liverpool spent £562m on players in FY20 to FY24, with a net spend of £376m. For comparison, City spent £400m net.

Wages aren't much different either: Liverpool's totalled £1.77bn and City's were £1.89bn.

As I said, what he was repeating was dipper propaganda.
So a difference in total spend of £36m, compare prize money for those years and we’re significantly ahead of the Dippers in real terms.
