Gross spend is £1.32bn since FY16.

I was disappointed when we dropped out of the Wirtz bidding but maybe we had good reason;

Liverpool wasting money on Wirtz when quarter-price Cherki is better
Man City may have bought the better player for about a quarter of the price.www.football365.com
I am already excited for next year with the new signings especially Cherki, and an actual real live full-back plus a new assistant manager who can hopefully challenge/push Pep as well as a new set-piece coach.
That would be exciting on it's own, but then I remember that on top of this we also have the best midfielder in the World to come back
Would it be too much to hope that Phil Foden also rediscovers his Player of the Year form from season before last?
Wouldn't be the first time. Harry Maguire and Declan Rice are two that spring to mind.When I heard we'd pulled out, at first I thought it was just the usual face-saving PR clubs (especially united) do when they've been "snubbed". The more I look at the figures being bandied about and the dance liverpool are involved in, the more I tend to believe we had an initial sniff, heard the demands, and said "no thanks, good luck".

You'll see their gross spend in note 9 as an addition in the registrations column (£194.5m in FY24, for instance)
Obviously, FY25 accounts aren't available yet so I've added on their recent purchases to get to the £800m net number, but the actual fees are probably a bit higher than they've disclosed to the media again.
Couldn't give a shit about that.The perfect situation now after Liverpool fans getting all giddy is for them to have to pull out of the Wirtz deal too only for him to end up somewhere like Madrid or Munich.

That’s exactly what happened. I don’t know why everyone keeps saying he rejected us.When I heard we'd pulled out, at first I thought it was just the usual face-saving PR clubs (especially united) do when they've been "snubbed". I don’t see it with Gyokeres.Rumoured they want this … not gonna lie, that team would be a huge problem
Pep is the Top dogCity was always his first pick, like they said on 9320 you dont come over and talk to the club if you are not going to sign.
Something happened in his visit to City, I think City got cold feet ,could be the fee, could be his attetute, mabey he wants to be the main man , remember Sane he wanted to be the top dog in Germany. I think thats why he talked to Liverpool, the problem with Wirtz snd Liverpool is Salah he is and will be the too dog. And at City there is no top dog while Pep is here.
Well if he ever wants to leave it could go all Gerrard for him… and his family.I'm astonished he's picked the dippers and believe he'll regret it for a long time.
The scousewashers' propaganda machine is more powerful than the rags' ministry of truth, these days.![]()
Florian Wirtz: Liverpool finalising deal for Bayer Leverkusen playmaker
Liverpool are in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen to sign playmaker Florian Wirtz.www.bbc.co.uk
The real sportswashing. Pathetic window dressing by the BBC. 'The deal is only half of what PSG paid for Neymar'. Aye alright.
