Foden ... Valuation in the current market?

I think for us he's going to be worth an insane amount.

But I think had he played the same amount of games and had effectively identical performances for another club, say Dortmund, I reckon he'd be valued similarly to whatever Sancho's worth at this current moment. So around 100-120m or so.

The one thing going against Foden's valuation compared to a Haaland or a Sancho is that they've been doing it at senior level longer. These are two statistical freaks with great physical attributes. Foden has only really just emerged as a top tier player, who's goal/assist output is only just starting to hit that high level too.

The thing going in Foden's favour is his absolutely ability with the ball. Ridiculous dribbling and shooting ability with a real sharp eye for a pass and cross too. I'm not sure about Haaland, but for the first time I can fairly confidently say that I rank his potential as higher than Sancho's.

Another thing is marketability, and I reckon if Foden fills out his potential he'll far outstrip Haaland on this front.

Foden this season is on about 0.72 G+A/90. If City next season have a good season without any particularly down periods (like the first third of this season), Foden is a frequently used player AND he makes some improvements, he could finish with 35-40 goal contributions over a season. If that happens his value will probably be up there with the highest in the world, rocketing past Sancho (unless he signs for United and matches that output).

If he does all that AND this summer he has a brilliant outing at the Euros, he could be valued almost as highly as Jordan Henderson.

If he wasn't an academy product/local lad/City fan I think he'd be worth around £140m right now.

But he is those three things so I imagine we wouldn't sell for anywhere near that amount.

Now there is something to aspire to.
