foiled at the swamp

I'll be up for a snatch squad for that banner when we eventually win something.

The way to do it would be on a matchday. A couple of Blues need to get matchday tickets in that stand and wear nice suits. You can get away with anything if you have a nice suit and look the part.

Hang round at the end of the game, look officious, go and get it and if anyone asks say you are from MUSA or whatever the phony organisation is.

Then burn the fucker in MAry Ds before a game.

The videos will be all over Youtube.

the idea was to put it on youtube this time round, all i can say is i personally couldnt stomach going into therir ground at threequarters time hanging around then damaging it but if someone else fancies it....

there are loads of staff there stewards etc also the people who sit near the flag every game are very protective of it

I'd do it and others would.

The key is to wait until the end of the game when everyone's gone.

And, as I say, wear a suit, not a stripy top and jogging bottoms.

the original banner belonged to a rag from runcorn (rumour was he was a one time liverpool fan as a small kid) nicknamed tutzy or something, he took that flag to FC when the fans split, this flag is a copy of the original, but everyone is right here, the club sanction it, its a disgrace, they took it down for that game a couple of years ago because they realised it was in bad taste , so what do they do, just put it back up again....

thinking caps on boys

Right... I've thought about this a lot. Breaking and entering would be futile due to the volume of security and cctv; the only viable alternative:

CALLING ALL EX-FORCES BLUES AND OTHER WILLING VOLLY'S

Need a team of experts and donations.

The Plan

Hire a helicopter. Fly to the swamp at 0200hrs. Hover over the relevant end. Team abseils down to kidnap banner. Team take off with banner in Lewis Collins-esque fashion to a secret location to burn banner.

Optional mission: two team members abseil onto the pitch, douse it in petrol and burn that too (setting fire to the stands is at the discretion of the operational team members).

Estimated cost: £7k

Look on faces of sad rags: priceless

Seconded. Great idea.

In a funny way, I actually like how the rags are so obsessed with us and get in snide digs at every opportunity. It makes our inevitable success so much more enjoyable. The more they go on about '34 years' and 'putting iklle ciddy in their place' the better I feel, because we will be able to shove it back down their throats - with interest. And, in fact, the extent to which they go on about it, and the pleasure they derive from it, smacks of desperation to me. And that really is a nice feeling.

There are other ways of doing this under the cover of darkness with very dark clothing and balaclavas on. I would be happy to join in for the crack at trying to grab that banner, but it would be back up in no time and I live 180 miles from Manchester...

I got some Tom Clancy novels I can read up on and get my special forces head on.

the tour was chosen on purpose as it gave us access to the ground, only thing is their glazer out lot have been trying a few tricks inside the ground so they have beefed up security inside, things at night time just aren't practical, possibly blues in an executive box in their end in stretford end tier 2, well maybe just maybe...

The recon on this would have made Bauer proud.

The dirty dozen will not be denied.

There are still ways and means...flash mob.

Wearethesouthstand also made a valiant solo attempt following the Carling Cup second leg.

No mean feat when I can report this brave soldier also stayed behind an hour after the final whistle and locked himself in a toilet.

He came close, very close, no mean feat when you consider where we were in relation to the banner.

His very real drunkedness, a fitting excuse as he professed he had passed out and was looking for a way out.

Within spitting ditance, box cutter at the ready.

Granted, people old enough and 'respectable' enough to know better.

Soldier, I salute you, and award you the Blue Moon medal for bravery under fire.
