How come one of the major urban centres of population in this country is so under represented in the top flight of English football? Just one quite large club (Villa)

It's always puzzled me anyone know why?

Not forgetting the Baggies as well.Lancashire teams have dropped out of the PL in last few years,Blaclpool,Wigan,Bolton,Blackburn and Burnley.

It still staggers me that it is referred to as the second city. We have two huge football teams and I am certain will be much more known worldwide than birmingham.

The Villa fans tend to regard West Brom the same way we regard Wigan, a town on the outskirts with a small club

You would think that a City the size of Birmingham would have two large clubs, like City and United, Liverpool and Everton

That's Villa fans getting a bit deluded, WBA are a bigger club than Wigan IMO.

Because football is the number one reason why somewhere is considered a second city...

-- Thu Sep 26, 2013 9:08 pm --

Nah, Villa and Albion fans dont like each other that much, Most of the games involving midlands clubs are a bit of a rivalry. Wolves v Villa etc can get quite heated.

Villa fans are not getting a bit deluded they have been deluded for decades!
They think they are the Bayern Munich of the midlands.
Pathetic really.
