Football in The Midlands

One of my best mates is a Villan. Nothing delusional about him nowadays. They narrowly missed going down last year and since Brian Little was in charge, when they had the likes of Yorke playing for them, they haven't really featured as a challenge for anything. I suppose you could say they've been better than us in terms of staying in the top flight over the past 20 years but that is about it really.

I can't recall when it was but they went down into the old third division like us at one stage and had to fight their ways out of it.

I even think in head-to-heads with City we've done alright against them even when we were coming up after promotions.

They, Birmingham, Wolves and the baggies have all missed out on the big investors.

Wolves fucked up, Villa cut their cloth accordingly and it's starting to pay off, Birmingham went big and went broke due to dodgy ownership.

West Brom have been run properly all the way through.

and saying Birmingham is the 2nd city is like saying chlamydia is the 2nd best result of having sex, nope sorry, is a title that city never deserved and hasn't deserved to keep, London is quite obviously #2 behind Manchester these days.

In certain respects Birmingham is better than Manchester, certainly in terms of pubs and restaurants imo, but overall I agree it's no contest anymore. united and latterly City have played a big part in that too, in terms of the "trickle down" effect on the city's wealth and exposure to the wider world.

Would that be the Villa with 20 major trophies compared to our 11?
Admittedly many in the distant past.

23 to our 15 but anyway...
villa are a big club certainly, it's just surprising there isn't another of them in the midlands.
Would our 15 include Charity Shields? My claim of 11 doesn't as it's a glorified friendly.

Not having that GDM
lived down there for three years and hardly found a decent boozer or reasonable place to eat, shocking for a city that size

Whilst not the only yardstick, the fact that Birmingham has four Michelin Star restaurants and Manchester currently has none would suggest you weren't looking hard enough, especially given your salary ;-)

that's only because the cockney chefs think that on a map Birmingham is due west of Edinburgh.

Is it still the case that they have to serve a certain three course meal for less than £30?

How did Jamie Oliver end up at the Etihad then?

Not sure cockney chefs have much input into the Michelin Guide tbh JMW.
