Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

Yes, understand the point, but the first thing I thought about that was the use of "City Executive" which doesn't mean they were writing as a City executive for a start, given how many different companies these guys are on. It's a pretty meaningless statement as far as they've quoted it. Likewise, "require" could entirely mean, well "require". Not shift around, not pull a fast one, but "require". I require that my business pays people from the business account not the personal account for example.

I have no doubt the quote could have been used out of context but it is the sort of what if that sadly I was given to think about before anyone mentioned HMRC.

Fuck me, it's Amnesty International now. The Guardian are rolling out the big guns.

Awaits Peter Tatchell and Bono to weigh in next.

We’ve been here before with Amnesty International and we can’t really complain if they’re raising concerns about human rights abuses - alleged or otherwise - as it’s their job to do that. Seems ironic though when you check out that tweet I posted earlier though in response to the Guardian tweet!

My issue, however, is that when citing City as a specific example of “Sportswashing”, will we see Amnesty level the same amount of criticism at another sport - Formula One - which generates far more money than City ever will and has the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on it’s annual roster?. And if City is being used for “Sportswashing”, is it fair to say Barclays were used for “Bankwashing” when Mansour bought a huge chunk of shares in them following the global banking crisis?

Well, put it this way: if there was something really damning in there, they'd have published it for sure.

Who do we think employs the best lawyers and accountants?
The Sun?
The Mail?
Talksport?
The Guardian?
Amnesty International, an organisation now about as credible and relevant as Comic Relief?
That prick Dillon on Talkshyte this morning with a salary less than a week's wages of a Cardiff squad player?
Or City, Sheik Mansour and a circa $900bn sovereign wealth fund?

Bring it on.
