Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

I really hope we win the Champions League now. Before all this I kind of didn't care, but now it would seem like the perfect answer. On top of that I hope we snap Frenkie De Jong away from Barca as a statement. Finally I hope we put in sneaky bids for any player Bayern Munich is interested in, just to make sure they become so expensive that it will hurt "Kalle and Uli".

It'll be a victory for football the day Rummenige, Hoeness, Gill, Tebas lose their hold in the game.

RedCafe is hilarious right now, barely any mentions of Mendes funneling players and making huge profit, who also has a huge say in Wolverhampton, about 2-3 page worth of mention what PSG are doing, very little talk about the doping allegations with a recent CL winner, about 6-7 pages worth of talk about Ronaldo rape allegation, no mention of Bayern and Inter deal between Shaqiri which had some irregularities involved, but almost 25 pages worth City allegation LOL

They all have bachelor degrees in financial doping and human rights abuse. I mean there own club has/had a sponsorship with the Suadi and Dubai. Last season they went out to train there I mean they also have questionable human rights abuse going on there, as well as not too long ago Nike sponsored them till Adi, but its all good right?

Not forgetting that state run Russian airline they don’t mind receiving sponsorship from. The airline that doesn’t fly to Manchester but also run by a state that sets off chemical weapons and murders British citizens on British sovereign soil. I find the crocodile tears by their fans pointing at human rights abuses in the world quite disgusting. It’s got nothing to do with human rights in the Middle East as they couldn’t give a rats arse about it before 2008. They don’t care about people being wronged in the world, they only care that their football team they support which they couldn’t find on the map but support to bask in Uniteds success over the last few decades is up the shitter and City ruined it for them.

The more I think about it, the less I'm convinced that there's something shady going on as far as why these articles were released.

I don't believe Bayern orchestrated this at all. They've had more issues with Der Spiegel than anyone over the years.

I honestly think this is entirely down to to German football fan pretension. I don't know if you've ever had the privilege of speaking with a Bundesliga fan about their league, but it's not too dissimilar to talking to a Liverpool fan. They're especially keen to talk about how amazing it is for the fans.

In Germany, they only pay pennies for tickets to games. They have safe standing. They have better booze. They average 70,000 a game everywhere. They have tifos. They have the 50+1 rule. They even have Jadon Sancho.

Basically, as far as they're concerned, football literally belongs to the fans. There's no set of people more arrogant about doing things the right way. The levels of grief Hoffenheim got a few years ago due to their heightened investment was immense. The way RB Leipzig are villainized beyond reproach is ubiquitous. I'm aware that a blind eye is turned to Bayern and they're somewhat worshipped by many, in fact I think that served as the authors's motivation.

There's a real, 'How dare they?!' about the whole thing. How dare they buy De Bruyne from Germany? How dare they buy Sané and Gundogan ahead of Bayern? How dare they beat the rules that were set in place to hold them back?

There's so much angst in the article, so much anger. By the end it felt like I was reading something off RAWK. I honestly think if there was some higher power behind it all they would have wanted Der Spiegel to do a better job.

I have spoken to scores of German football fans in the last ten years, the last lot being in and around Hoffenheim. Every single one (except Bayern fans) I have spoken to has slated Bayern Munich, saying they are essentially a corrupt organisation which has destroyed German football. The many Schalke fans I have met said they hate Bayern as much as Dortmund. In Stuttgart last month I met a Dortmnd fan who said he hated Bayern more than Schalke!

But, why is it only when City buys they have a problem ? Mkhitaryan was Bundesliga player of the season when United bought him. Aubameyang was one of the best strikers in Bundesliga. Where is the outcry over losing Mkhitaryan or Aubameyang ?

If I put on my David Conn hat, I reckon I could find a major ethical problem with every single top flight club in Europe. It's obvious the ire is not related to the crime but to the perpetrator. As you said all of a sudden their all experts. How many of them actually care about what Abu Dhabi's up to though? How many of them had even heard of Abu Dhabi before 2008?
Are City doing anything uniquely bad financially? Who knows, who cares? It's City.

Oh well, they can have their moral high ground. The Glazers and Mourinho are the best ambassadors for the good spirit of football a fan could ask for.

If that's so, then I definitely doubt that Bayern would have been involved in this hit piece.

There are so many attacks on our club its not true.

I have to ask.
A, are we really that good?
B,are they really hurting that much?
C, have we cost them that much money?
D,are they really that scared of what we are going to become?
Answers:
A. Yes.
B. Yes.
C. Yes.
D. Yes.

Do I get some free underlay for getting all four right?

Seriously, looking at C, you only have to look across town to see how that works. Before the Sheikh came along they were top dog with only Chelsea to seriously challenge them. They could attract players by their name and the prospect of winning medals at home and in Europe, plus they had an exceptional manager who could make ordinary players look world class as part of a team. They didn't have to pay top whack either a the Glazers kept a lid on wage costs. in the year to 2010, their wage bill was £131m which was almost identical to ours. But that meant they, apying up to £90k a week, couldn't attract the absolutely top-rank of players when teams like us and Chelsea were paying over £150k per week to our top earners.

So Baconface & Gill came up with a little scheme. They manufactured a mythical transfer request from Rooney, got Chelsea to make a firm offer to him and used that to persuade the Glazers to double their wage ceiling. All the players on the top rate of £90k then got £180k, with presumably commensurate increases underneath that. Our wage bill has now doubled but that's mainly because we were at the start of recruiting better players whereas they were an established club. Now their wage bill is £30m more than ours, at £295m but the quality of our squad is unquestionably far superior to theirs. Last financial year, despite having been in the CL, they burned through a net £50m of cash when they've generated significant cash for last 3 or 4 years.

Have we cost them that much money? Too fucking right we have!

Full on attack now in progress. We can’t be beaten on the pitch we are only going to get stronger so there’s a concerted attack to remove us from the top table. The likes of Bayern will stop at nothing to destroy us.

That's the thing right? No one questions Arsenal sponsor ship with Emirates, or the FA cups. Many of these clubs are sponsors by corrupt nations and organizations, we at Barcelona had Qatar until our beef with PSG, Roma are sponsored by them, I think Bayern are too now? US and UK government/army commit many human rights violations yet not a peep and these same people are fine living in those countries. People love traveling to Dubai for holidays etc. nothing about that. Their own legend and academy graduate Beckham was happy collecting Qatar money while promoting them.
