It's been a feeding frenzy all week with some particular nasty pieces written which were unrelated to the "leaks" and culminated with Dillon putting the boot in.

The press are behaving exactly how I expected them too. I have no issues with them reporting the football leaks stuff as I would expect nothing different. Would the coverage be unique to City? That is something I am not sure of. The press, or some elements of it, would sell their mother down the river if it produced a popular story.

Would other clubs have been treated differently by the British press? Obviously we have nothing comparable to compare this week with but just looking at CL reports and infrancies within our bastion of impartiality press I think you already know the answer.

The G14 cartel are behind these allegations and illegally obtaining information.
They are the only ones who tick all the boxes in regards to who is at threat from City and who is to gain from release of these emails.
I suppose this ffp stuff was, always, eventually going to cause a mini earthquake in European football. It was inevitable.
How far the G14 are willing to go to exclude all newcomers and interlopers is not known.
The puzzling thing is if this is all about putting pressure on eufa, and creating a new euro league, why were city involved in discussions from the beginning?
Maybe our early stage exclusion from discussions would raise more eyebrows and confirm G14 guilt and intent. Maybe.

My impression is they would like to have new giant City on board, to stabilize their cartel, but only if City was content with a smaller part of the cake.

This is right. I suspect it goes a little further than that. I suspect there are "gentlemen's agreements" in place amongst 4 or 5 clubs relating to all sorts of financial matters such as divvying up transfer targets to avoid driving up prices.

I'd like to think, as you say, they have tried to get us on board and we've told the dishonourable ****s to fuck off.
