Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

Because, according to him, it’s all bollocks and I’ve made it all up. Despite the fact I’ve published chapter on verse on it using source documents and Stuart Brennan got Dr Rob Wilson, an academic and football finance expert, to verify my work, which he did.

Ha ha - what a fucking wanker! Yet he believes everything he reads in Der Spiegel. No agenda there eh Nick?

No. I’ve no intention of directly engaging with him any more. He’s accused me of tweeting stuff I never have and of lying about this issue. He then threatened me with lawyers for calling him out.

Ric and particularly Gary James will tell you what he’s like to deal with. Links to the stuff I’ve done are available to him. If he wants to put in the work to prove me wrong he’s free to do so.
Sounds like a right @**€

What they do have the right to do is audit the procedures of the licensing association, which is the PL or FA in our case. And I think that involves specific sample audits of clubs’ FFP submissions. Whether they have the ability to directly examine our books I’m not sure. Even if they do, if they see a receipt from Etihad of £50m then that’s that. And the emails were clear that the way we recorded these revenue streams was important for audit purposes in that they had to be seen to come from separate sources rather than one big cheque covering everything.

I would have thought that UEFA would not be in a position to audit the books etc without the agreement of a club i.e. they could not unilaterally enforce such a thing.

As you say, the books will in any case show receipts from Etihad and other sponsors and they definitely have no right to look into Etihad's books. Looking at correspondence would surely be beyond their rights. These guys are a football association not HMRC.

UEFA do look to be powerless in this situation if City just continue to say nothing and point to their published statement on the matter.

Hopefully this will prove to be the biggest fuck you to the protectionist football authorities and the old guard clubs.

I'm surprised at the amount of dismissive posts in relation to the allegations. We have had a £49m fine for FFP, and a two year ban on signing academy players in the past. The fact these two ALLEDGED stories relate to a youth players dad receiving payments and further bending of FFP rules makes me a little more cautious.

IF the club have done something untoward or bent the rules, it may cost us. Reduced squads already happened as have fines. The next step will be a ban from competion or transfers or both and a fine thats so severe it hampers our progress and lets others catch up. As TH said, watch us win something and get stripped of the title. It also brings the name of the club down again which isn't great for the ambitoins of growing our club.

I hope the allegations are false, or covered by past investigations (I mean UEFA are meant to monitoring us aren't they after the FFP fine).. and that we can really progress the club to the next level with Pep at the helm.

There's bending rules and then there's bending rules. The bottom line is that City have had the kind of investment needed to make them competitive in their industry and that should be a fundamental right in a free society. If City have bent rules, they have bent ill conceived ones that may well have been put in place in no small part to deny City the ability to compete with rivals that do not want more competition.

City invited media executives up from News UK (owners of The Sun) for the West Ham game.

Sounds like they will be toeing the line in the future and cards were put on the table.

Think the Sterling coverage finally saw City snap.

Should also have ramifications for TalkSport coverage.

Simon Jordan must have missed the memo..

I get city being all tight lipped but surely the continued attacks, insinuations and accusations from Duncan castles, nick harris and Jonathan norcroft surely boarder on being, if not absolutely litigious ?(sorry if I used the term incorrectly)
Yes you can throw around the term allegedly as much as you like but how are they getting away with the things they are writing on twitter ?
Castles is well known for threatening legal action on anyone who dares say anything remotely unkind about him so why haven’t our lawyers gone down a similar route with these three wankers ?

Can UEFA punish us for 'bending' rules?

It seems him and Castles worked together a few years ago.
From what you say about him he is not only believing his own lies he is claiming your links are lies by you.
Is this normal journo tactics or is it Trump like tactics that demonstrate his perceived media power?
You do right in abstaining from debating with him.
