Football Leaks/Der Spiegel articles

I honestly believe we are the only fanbase in the UK that has a real handle on what FFP actually means and all its composite parts in relation to its allowances and loopholes. Whenever I question fans of other clubs they are genuinely astonished when I tell them that its not against the rules for an owner to fund a company by whatever means who is sponsoring any club as long as it is the company who fork out the sponsorship money and the sponsorship passes the appropriate tests of "fair value" if necessary and doesn't have to pass that test if its not a "related party" and the owner has no controlling interest of that company. More importantly none related companies have no obligation to show UEFA or anybody else their "books" and don't have to explain where their money came from.

It seems obvious we may have taken advantage of some of these rules in the early phases of FFP but that was MCFC 6 - 7 years ago and they still ensured we failed the break even test and were duly punished & fined. Our AD sponsorships now make up approx 13 - 15% in number and value I believe.

Give them both barrels PB
waited until we submitted our accounts that year THEN moved the goalposts............and some still say there is no conspiracy

I've just come off a very interesting video chat with Jonathan Northcroft of the Sunday Times about all this under the auspices of Man City Fan TV. He's as cynical as me about FFP but I think I made some inroads about his view of the whole FFP thing and City's position particularly. And I'm off the XS Manchester studio to talk about FFP tonight from 6-7
Well done. Keep up the good work. There are still journos who really don't grasp the significance of what has been going on and efforts like yours are absolutely necessary.

Good to see that Mr. Northcroft is engaging with City fans and our resident FFP expert in particular. It can only help when journalists understand City’s views on FFP.
The guy is a wankstain, he's already been laughing at our expense on his Twitter chat with Nick Harris. He's basically made his mind up that all these hacked emails are true and we should be punished. Wether he agrees with FFP or not, that's irrelevant to him, we've broke rules that UEFA have set out.

He's a ****.

And remember they quickly changed the rules again when the Milan clubs got bought ? Suddenly, they made rules that could accomodate investment by new owners.
The truth is City and PSG should have never been sanctionned if FFP rules were honest and not moving according to the (not so) hidden agenda.

I really think there would be less problem with FFP if it was enforced honestly.
I'll take the example of PSG. QTA gives 180 M€ to PSG. UEFA FFP says they'll agree for a value of 100 M in their calculation. It could stay there but no. After lobbying by Tebas, Bayern, Juve and co., they decide it is worth 58 M€. It could stay there but no. They apply that value retroactively which fucks the club that had committed the only wrong of working with the value set by UEFA years before.
It is terribly injust and dishonest. PSG feels cheated because UEFA renege on the agreed value and is in risk of failing the break even rule. If they knew the value would be lower, they might have done deals differently.
On the other hand, the other clubs are right to feel PSG cheated because their sponsorship is later deemed overvalued.
And now, we have a 3rd attempt to devalue the same sponsorship after 1 year audit with 2 external auditing companies "certified" by UEFA. So then again, it feels like the fair value they had agreed is wrong while there is nothign new in that case. If you even think about it, the value of the sponsorship should not go down but up since PSG brand value is increasing with more fans worldwide, more kits sold and stars like Neymar and Mbappé.
In the end, either side (pro PSG or anti PSG) feels cheated due to bent rules.

While FFP is inherently wrong imo because it prevents investment by the owner, the way it is used is even more wrong and disgusting. It reminds me of the use of VAR that can be manipulated to help one team or another acoording to your motive.
