Your conclusion on the Etihad deal is flawed. From a contractual, accounting and FFP perspective the fact that the shareholder settles a party's contractual obligation is not a breach of GAAP. The idea the auditors (BDO or PwC for UEFA) didn't consider these points is nonsense.

One thing that has struck me in all this is how everything that Der Spiegel has published is being taken as gospel. At no point has anyone in the media questioned the validity of the claims (which let's not forget were illegally obtained) or asked who has leaked them, or why. You know, actual journalism rather than just rehashing another publication's stories.

We've seemingly been tried and convicted in their eyes, before we've even had the chance to formulate our official response. So much for innocent until proven guilty, eh.

Why would they? All of the people latching onto this story are the ones who have already accused us of having dodgey sponsorships and mentioning Abu Dhabi’s human rights record.

These leaks suit their agenda and if anyone still doubts that certain sections of the media have an anti-City agenda then, as Nigel Pearson once said, they’ve got their head in the sand.

I also think that there is a very specific reason why clubs such as Bayern, United, Liverpool and Arsenal are keeping quiet on the issue. Usually these sides cannot wait to stick the knife into us and cry foul play. However, an investigation based on hacked emails could set a dangerous precedent and those clubs have the most to lose brand wise.

A point lost in the hysteria. Not to mention the fact that the information was illegally obtained.

I’d take the words of that so called expert with a pinch of salt. He’s an expert fuckwit but god knows that else.

His article is basically blaming us for cheating FFP, buying years of history and turning the leagues uncompetitive.

The irony about FFP and making things more competitive is that ironic that it might actually be a parody interview!

When a "financial expert" does an interview where he passes moral rather than financial judgement then the agenda is pretty clear.
It is embarrassingly transparent.

They don't need to say anything directly, they are doing it by proxy through their media mates

And now the rags and dippers are calling for tighter spending controls for the PL.

None of this is related whatsofuckingever.

The other thing is they're not actually publishing any of the documents.

With Ronaldo's Rape case, they put up the hacked documents for everyone to read themselves.

Here, they've only shown a couple of Powerpoint slides.

Sadly for the case being made PwC would ignore an elephant shitting into their salad if there was a buck in it for them. They are the masters of turning a blind eye if that’s what the client wants.

EDITED TO ADD: as I said earlier in the thread. FFP is a crooked game, rigged in favour of what were then the ‘big’ teams.

You cannot by definition cheat if the game is rigged.

I wasn’t in favour of the Super League stuff but now I’m beginning to think why not? Let’s just wash our hands of the corrupt UEFA bastards.

Jordan was claiming that City and Chelsea are "artificial" clubs the other week on there so that's nothing new coming from him. Someone on here said a City fan phoned up and ripped him a new one. The bloke is a fucking clueless wanker and is probably up there with the worst of them when it comes to shit owners of football clubs. Why the fuck he gets invited onto The Debate on Sky to talk about on-field matters is beyond me
I'd lay a pound to a pinch of shit that he has a micro-penis.
