Football Manager 2013

Gone back to FM 2012 also. Have a Stockport save and a Sampdoria save. Went back to the Sampdoria one, highlight being beating the scum 2-1 in the Champions League final. Incredible game - Cleverley and Rooney sent off for punching my players, I go one up and then they somehow equalize through crap pea in the 90+4 minute. Into extra time and off goes Vidic, Carrick and Nani all to injury, leaving me to snatch a second goal three minutes before penalties.

Have Kyle Walker and Sturridge in my squad, though looking to sell the latter as he's on a huge 67k a week, well out of line with the rest of my squad.

City just won the league, Mancini went to Barca to replace Pep, who went to the Spain national job, and into Eastlands came Fat Sam. He buys Samba and some Ukrainian center back and somehow storms the league.

Just agreed deals to sign Martin Olssen, Xeridan Shaqiri and Lassana Traore but rest is pretty much all young Italian blood. Selling anyone who I get a decent offer for and banking the difference, want the club to build up the youth academy to excellent. Though just had a shock as the chairman announced he wanted to sell, and the guy coming in said he wanted to replace me with Ranieri. Luckily it fell though. If something does happen there I want to go to either RC Lens or Middlesborough, who have both been relegated but have a good youth system. Though do hope I can stay at Samp for a while, just getting started here with total domination in a league where Inter are awful an keep buying in more crap, AC are massively in debt, Napoli have sold Cavani and are struggling, leaving just us, Juve and Udinese as the only decent teams challenging.
 
I finally won the league with Bilbao! 2020 Definitely the most involved I got with a save, so frustrating when you're not doing well because you can't sign anyone really, you have your squad and that's it.
 
I normally play with City, but it just felt a bit too easy in FM13.

Having finished my first season in 5th behind City on GD i also won the Europa League. Happy with that. Swapped Huddlestone + 2.5m for Cleverwank (Killed me but he is just the player i needed for formation) brought in Wellington Nem , Alderwield, Zambrotta (Back up and mentoring)

Made a lot of changes in 2nd pre-season - Shipping out Adebayor, Dempsey, Lennon, Dawson, Livermore, Defoe plus a few more. Bringing in Llorente (free) Schurrle (£21m) Dzeko (£11m transfer listed) Gaston Ramirez (£10m - Soton relegated) and David Alaba (£23m)

used nothing but the tactic above, this was my strongest line-up

Now here comes the Jay from Inbetweeners moment - I won the lot! A quintuple Super Cup, League Cup, FA Cup, Europa Leage and Prem. I couldnt believe it! 62 games in total with one of the smallest squads in the prem (20 players). Llorente with 38 goals in 42 games, Sandro an absolute rock in the middle of the park with Nem providing the creative spark. Bale and Schurrle scoring for fun. Everyhting just went right.

I've got a lot of good youngsters and regens out on loan. A newgen called Derek Keen from Hyde who is 17 - scored 20 goals for Celtic on loan this season. and lotsa of other 4.5* potential youngsters - mostly British.

Just into pre-season now - Honda is coming on a free (contract expired) with a lot of other poached newgens from other clubs. Looking to strenghten back 4 aswell.

Great enjoyment so far! i can't reccomend the above tactic any higher, you just need to find the right players.
 
The game is utter crap.

On my save Aguero wants 450k a week and won't budge. Last year of contract so I'm buggered. I cannot even offer that much.

Just had an offer for Gotze accepted but his agent wants 18.5 million. WTF SI??!!!?

Seems there is still an awful lot to iron out.

Poor form SI.....very poor.

I want my fucking money back!
 
I was never a fan of football manager. I like to directly control my destiny ala control the players and not rely on computer simulations regardless of the strength of my team on paper and my preparation before matches. So Fifa is good enough for me.
 
Hi guys looking for a bit of help.

Just bought FM 2012 on the basis of feedback from the 2013 one.

Not played FM for ten years so wouldn't mind downloading a tactic that works, just while I get used to the game again.

Problem is I cant seem to do it.

Can anyone please help?

What format do I need to put it in when its downloaded?

And how can I get it onto the tactics on the game?

Im using Steam

Any help would be appreciate.

Tactics/Formation is entirely up to you, check your squad, and your backroom staff will suggest a few for you straight away in the first meeting.

I usually go for a wide system, 4 at the back, 2 CM, 2 Attacking WIDE wingers and 2 strikers, so its a 4-2-2-2.

Tactics has it's own screen.
 
Long message on it's way, hope it's not too boring!

I'm currently playing FM2013 with Staybridge. Got the team up to League 1 in successive promotions, but am aiming to finish in mid-table this season and bolster the squad before another crack at promotion.

I've not started a game with City since CM01/02; Benarbia and Berkovic behind Goater, I named the formation "The Bermuda Triangle" (oh dear!). I would end up being too loyal to the current squad, and try and boost the youth system, rather than playing the transfer market.

Other than playing games building up non-league clubs, I quite enjoy national challenges; i.e. manage a country, and a club from that country, and only sign players from that country. I've had some fun games playing Dundee Utd/Scotland, Genk/Belgium and Sheff Weds/England. Argentinian, Italian and French Leagues are usually quite good for long term games as well

I've been playing the game since I was introduced to Championship Manager '93 I still have, somewhere, the free copy of Fever Pitch that was included in the box!

My tips for anyone getting to grips with the game would be:
> Start off with a smaller club with low expectations, this way your board and players will be more patient with you.
Scout as much, and as often as you can. There are always some good buys to be had.
> Decide on 2/3 formations early, and train on team cohesion until your team knows how to play your tactics. Obviously if you're short of funds, you'll have to tailor your formation to your available players, otherwise buy players to suit your team.
> Mental stats are very important. If your players aren't determined, or don't have good team work, once you go behind you won't claw it back.
> Don't worry too much about training facilities. If you don't have the cash, don't bother buying players with potential, unless they're going to play games in your first team. If you can afford them, great.

For all levels of player, I would suggest reading some of the FM forums around. The Dugout has been particularly useful for me.

Is anyone elses game starting to go a little bit 'wacky' I think I am into my 4th or 5th season with wigan but certain things are irritating me.

-If I send a scout out to get a report card on a player it takes weeks and weeks until they get back to me. It used to take a day or so.

-My team report is completely different to the player reports from the same person...so in the team report my centreback is rated 3 star by my AM but in his own player profile he is rated 4 star etc? its weird.
