Cumbria (Barrow)?
Afraid not, Carlisle is also a current team from that county
I'm confused by the question then!

I thought we were looking for a county with only 1 former FL member in it, regardless of how many current FL members it had!

What exactly are we looking for then?!! A county which has only 1 former FL member in it, and no current FL members?
Correct, a current county. Strongbow got 4 of them - Herefordshire (Hereford United) , Bedfordshire (Luton Town), Cambridgeshire (Cambridge City) and Clwyd (Wrexham) - but there is a fifth. Sorry about my meanderings!

Re: Football Trivia Question of the Day

David Foster Wallace would have written this question thus:

Which one/two/three/four/five* counties have had only one/two/three/four/five* football league clubs at any point (i.e., past or present) in football history and regardless of whether the county/ies have since been redrawn or remain true to their (i.e., the counties') original boundaries and names?

* delete as appropriate and use such deletions to formulate a question with which your knowledge or lack thereof can best answer.

But of course I bow to the stirling work done on this thread by George.

elegantly put but incorrect, the use of 'regardless' needs to further qualified

What about Cambridge United? They are a former FL club as well, didn't Dion Dublin play for them? And I may be wrong, but isn't Peterborough in Cambridgeshire?

Re: Football Trivia Question of the Day

So is it Berwick rangers - Northumberland then?

By the way I ballsed up - Peterborough is in Cambridgeshire too.

Re: Football Trivia Question of the Day

Right, you are looking for four clubs/counties, Herefordshire (Hereford United) , Bedfordshire (Luton Town) and Clwyd (Wrexham) are three - and one other but not Berwick Rangers in Northumberland who have never been a FL club I think.

Sorry George :))

Thought it was a trick question with the Berwick answer as they're in the SFL. Anyway, yet another guess……

Merthyr Tydfil - Mid Glamorgan.

Re: Football Trivia Question of the Day

Got to be Kiddy Harriers in Worcestershire. Or has that answer been given already? They're the only team from Worcestershire to have reached the league and they are currently non-league.

Why don't Worcestershire (Kidderminster Harriers) count? They were mentioned earlier but seem to have dropped of your list.

Re: Football Trivia Question of the Day

and..... which local government boundaries date are we using?

another vote for Kidderminster
