FOR or AGAINST Rangers/Celtic joining the PL?

Glasgow Rangers are a Scottish third division club. In which case, why should they be allowed into the Premier League instead of Motherwell, who currently sit second in the Scottish Premier? There is more of an argument for allowing AFC Wimbledon into the Premier League than there is for Glasgow Rangers.

But actually, it's not about the football is it? These tossers like Cameron who have no clue about football or it's traditions just see the possibility of some Scottish votes so are making [yet another] ridiculous statement along with all the other bullshit proposals they come up with. Nothing to do with the football at all. And actually, it will probably lose the idiot more votes than it makes given that the rest of Scotland will hate him for it. And of course the money men who see the Glaswegians coming down here to fill the ground would also be in favour. It would take one year of ruined shopping centres, massive policing bills and some horrible people* visiting their stadia to make them change their mind. But then it would be too late. You should sometimes be careful what you wish for...

I realise that Berwick Rangers are in the Scottish League but they're 5 minutes from Scotland and their history is in the old Borders League before being refused access to an English league so they're a different kettle of fish.

*Not all Glaswegians are horrible.

For, just. For the novelty value. But it will end in tears, and probably an upturn in violence at the match. Those crazy Jocks on all those benders in the smoke, Manchester and Liverpool. A recipe for trouble.

Also what exactly would become of the rest of the Scottish Leagues? Is there an argument to integrate them also?

Interesting that the prime minister has suggested that the auld firm should join the premier league.

More to do with the independence debate than football, I suspect.

I thought that Mirror article had more to do with tomorrow being April 1st.

I can see the commercial sense, and lets face it they are two very big clubs, as for it ever happening I really don't know, apparently it's the Championship and Smaller Prem clubs who are against the idea

They are two very big SCOTTISH clubs.
In SCOTLAND.
Where they have a SCOTTISH F.A.
If we are going to allow two random foreign teams to play in our leagues, can we at least pick two who are good to watch, like Barca and Real, rather than a bunch of clueless journeymen and their delightfully friendly fans?

The only beneficiaries of this would be the Glasgow clubs.

The small benefit of having 2 extra sold out games per season for some clubs like Wigan will be very much lost as the self same clubs are the ones who will have to make way for the Scots in the league when they arrive and of course the number of seasons they will get to play in the PL will immediately be diminished.

There certainly wont be a massive increase in the TV revenues that clubs earn as they are already at the very top of the market.

So explain to me where it makes commercial sense?

Against both of them joining England.Rangers once played a testimonial for Stuart Mcall at valley parade. The Ranger fans misbehaved round the city centre like they did in Manchester in 2008.They can stay in Scotland both of them dont need either club or their horrrible fans.
