For those of you deluding yourselves

So just because United, Chelsea and Liverpool have lost a few more games than us that makes our current form not a worry???

Wake up FFS some people are so deluded and willing to settle for mediocrity. If we want top 4 and our competition for those places are dropping points we should be pushing further ahead to give us a better chance in the long run. Why settle for wehere we are in the league now when we should have more points?

Our form is shocking and I fail to see how people cant see it.

So what were 6th with a game in hand - we could and should be 2nd with a game in hand

And thats where the arrogance comes in...'expected'. We have no right to expect to win at Wigan FFS! They are a decent side, and a decent side who will win more than they draw at DW, so a draw there is a good result. Just cos we've thrown £200m at the side doesn't give us ANY right to expect wins, yet. This time in 2 years, well yes I would say we should be going to places like Wigan and going looking for nothing but a win, if titels and cups are what we want. But we're THREE months into the real start of the project, and no fewer than 5 of the first team, (2 in defence where the 'problems' are), are new to the team. Thats almost half of the first team and so if anyone thinks that in the first 3 months they would have gelled to the point where they 'expect' to beat Wigan away, they are just arrogant and unrealistic in my opinion.

No, arrogance would have been to expect 12 points from those 4 games. I expected a tough game from Wigan and Fulham....hell, even I'd have even taken 6 points in hindsight. I dont think asking for 2 wins out of those 4 games is anywhere near arrogant considering we've spent 200mil.

Ok, maybe arrogant is not the right word, but like I say, £200m or not, its still only 3 months in and who knows, this might just be our blip which ALL teams will go through, including the ever impressive Chelsea. If NOT losing is part of our blip though, and we trhen go on a run of 4 or 5 straight wins, surely that is a sign that the team is gelling? THe main thing is we are not losing the games we are playing poorly in, and to me that is a sign of a goods team, and a good team who are still getting to know one and others game.

What do you suggest we do Corporal Jones?

Explain why we 'should' be. And if, as I predict, you are going to throw the £200m into the answer, please at least explain why all those players should have gelled withing no time at all. I'm looking forward to this one....

A great start would be to get in a manager who can not only sign quality players, but also manage them as well.

Yeah sure, it's all well and good to not lose when you play badly....if you play badly for 1 or 2 games....but we've played badly in the last 5 games now ! So if this continues for the next 5 games and we get another 5 draws then I guess it's ok ??

We're starting to look like the shambles we saw last season. 1 shot on goal against Birmingham all game ? Throwing away a 2 goal lead against Fulham ? Going 2-0 down at home to Burnley and then throwing our comeback away in the last minute ?
Sounds all too familiar to me......

more bloody patience FFS! Have to say though NMT and DH's trainng reports highlighting how good the boys were looking etc must be taken with a degree of salt pinching as first half on Sat. did not show it at all !!

Well the next five games in the league are Liverpool away, Hull at home, Chelsea at home, and Bolton and Spurs both away. If we draw away to Liverpool, Bolton and Spurs and win against Hull, I will be happy. I look at the Chelsea gams as a write off as they look fantastic, to be honest. 6 points from the next 5 games, perhaps looking maybe to win at Bolton, will be a good return in my eyes.

So the wins against Blackburn, Wolves Pompey, Arsenal and WHU were all flukes by your definition?

I posted this topic because I have yet to see a really convincing performance this season and am concerned because of our recent run of results as surely those in charge at MCFC should also be.

If I laid out the money to purchase a Ferrari I would be a little worried if a Toyota Yaris turned up instead.
