Ford to bin the Fiesta off

Tell me about it, was tempted to get an Audi etron GT as I can get one through the work for my car allowance plus £220 per month including insurance. Enquired about it and the lead time is 16 months !
I think the issue no one is discussing is the longevity on batteries in EVs.

I had a Hyundai electric Lawnmower and within 3 years it took a day to mow our lawns.

With a petrol lawnmower it takes me 35 mins.

What happens to car values when the batteries are shite? Their useless and you’ve not just got the usual degeneration issue. It’ll cost £10k for a new battery.

Any cars that are small enough to park either side of a street of terraced houses and not block the roads making them single traffic should be allowed, anything massive should be banned from major towns and cities.

Our cities were not built for cars in mind and many inner city areas strugle to accomodate parking and accesibility for flowimg traffic.

Seem to recall a utube video by European Head of Ford around Feb this year time detailing plans.
From memory they are stopping production of ecosport engine plant end of 2022, opening electric car plants in Germany and Spain, joint venture with VW to produce batteries I forget where etc..
Sorry lost link on utube.

Fiesta was a European product when it was conceived in the 70s but it’s now a global product - the US a influence just adds to the push for an SUV.

The key issue in the modern car industry in the UK has been the government’s inaction around sponsoring the development of a battery plant. We have missed the boat because the industry will want to assemble vehicles near battery plants.

Easier to fit the batteries in an electric SUV than something like a fiesta or focus. Probably comes down to that as much as anything else.
Got told a few weeks ago they were expecting this for the Fiesta and Focus because there is nowhere to put batteries in them when they go electric. Where the Puma and Kuga have been designed with the space.
