Forget Lescott, Terry, Albiol & the rest GET Oguchi Onyewu

As a yank and someone that has watched him progress...

please no...

He has absolute NO left foot, is easily caught off guard awkwardly with his feet, not extremely fast. (Beast in the air though) I am personally not a fan. Only person i am a fan of for the U.S. is Bradley. Howard is class between the posts as well.

I'm also an American. Gooch had a great game today, probably his best game in years, so let's not get carried away here.

This bloke had Torres & Villa on toast tonight. Plays for Standard Liege, 27 and a star!
the door ....... close it on your way out ta ..

Let's be honest folks. He had a good game tonight but Spain were poor. Not trying to belittle USA performance or result but an on form Spanish side would stuff them good and proper. The Spaniards didn't work hard enough last night and paid the price. Bet you next time they meet it'd be a completely different story and Onyewu would be found out big time. Nowhere good enough for City and one decent game doesn't change that.

I may be a bit of a homer with Oguchi, but I have seen him play a ton over here in the states and he is a load in the box. He is more physical than every striker I have seen him match up against, and he almost never loses a header or cross, and he is actually pretty quick for a guy his size. He does have a couple of knocks as in the past he has been out of position a time or two but a lot of that has changed since Howard took over in net and that may be the biggest reason for his sudden rise in performance. Also he has shown a massive improvement in the past few months of knowing exactly when to make moves to fill in behind the left and right back when they make runs and make early plays on the ball. He has also taking very well to the U.S. captain Carlos Bocanegra being out with injury leaving him to make a lot of the decision Carlos was making for the back line. Also very good on going up top on set pieces, like I said he is a load on cross and one on one match-ups. I think he would be a very high quality signing. One side note, for a guy who throws his weight around as much as he does on defense and more specifically in the box, he has amazing body control when it comes to giving up fouls.

Any non-Americans having problems understanding what this guy is on about?

Reminds me of the 'Boston Pilgrims' section on Soccer AM!!
