i was an 80s city child and started watching city in 86 and my biggest memory as i wasnt allowed to the 5-1 was our 2 year war with crystal palace starring deakin the ref, redmond and gleghorn the goalies, nixon the boxer, wright and bright acting up,coin throwing,police escorts for officials, 8k palace fans going wild as wright scored past gleghorn,the kippax going wild after nixons red card, proper hostile for a 9 year old

Yep, was there for all of that.

Seem to remember Gleggy was pretty good between the sticks.

Nixon's red came after Wright and Bright had been cynically niggling all match, think Bright got a breakaway on a one on one with Eric to a 50/50 ball and Eric had had enough.

Being in the North Stand, felt a bit aggrieved at the decision as thought that Bright was laying it on thick again, but by all accounts Eric really did take him out good and proper.
 
What happened to big Eric?He used to play for the Mersey on Princess Parkway pre City.

Eric was and is a big blue - even if he is a scouser but what a sense of humour - you ever get the chance meet him or go to a dinner where he is the speaker Just brilliant - was with him in montesenos last season when the vets beat them 4-0 and andy morrison scored two as a centre forward hilarious
 
Eric a scouser??.....No way he is a Manc and a blue.He was at Tranmere for quite a while though.
 
Spoke to him a couple of times years ago and i swear he had a Mancunian accent.I just googled him and here is the proof.

The Nixon family is from Withington/Fallowfield.

Never a scouser , he played for the Mersey on Mersey bank and then Curzon Ashton if I`m not mistaken and Stockport before signing for his team.
