Former Academy Kids

Not one single one of us works for the club and watches everything the kids do. That’s on the academy director and Pep.

Funny you mention Rogers was way off it, but Pep is quoted on Saturday saying that everyone at the club knew he’d be good..
We have to trust that the bald frau Pep knows best. But, on the surface, it's baffling how McAtee isn't getting a sniff of a start. He can't be any worse than Gundogan, can he? O'Reilly is another one who seems to be hitting a glass ceiling. And, with all our defensive injuries, Wright. Maybe they're not good enough; I don't know. But if you don't give them a go, you'll never know. Thursday could be the perfect game to try them out; I can't see Everton being gung-ho against us. They'll use the same tactics they used against Arsenal recently. A flat back 10.

The idea that he's "just in good form" is a crock of shit. He's been doing superbly for them since last season.
People like to feel better that we’ve sold a decent player that would be in our first team now.

The “people didn’t complain” posts are brilliant as well. We don’t work for the club. It’s not up to fans to judge which kids are going to make it or now, it’s on the relevant people at the club.

Spot on.

While Pep and Staff have bern awful in his 9 years in integrating academy talent, nothing infuriates me more than what he is doing now.

The seniors are knackered, we are losing game after game.

Why not rest them and play the youth, and manage them and tell them "I want to see what you can do at this level, can you compete with the seniors?"

What an inspiring thing to hear and chance for academy players, and plus side, we rest players likr Stones/Ake and reduce injury or fatigue for Bernie.

I Simply think he is being way too arrogant about this.

Why have two people now said that Rogers is just a squad player at Villa even though he’s started every single league game and every single CL game for them this season? Does that mean Haaland is a squad player for us?!

We spent £4 million on him as a 16 year old and Villa spent £8 million on him after just 14 league starts for Boro (and he went straight into a team chasing a CL place) so it was obvious he was very highly rated by a lot of scouts.
It is bizarre that some fans can't accept that we have fucked up our player sales and purcheases in the last two years. Those people who are paid to make judgements on players have blundered. We have sold or released Palmer, Frimpong, Rogers, Lavia, Alvares, Tosin, Harwood-Bellis, even Alex Garcia and Delap. We have bought in players like Nunez and Kalvin Phillips.

You were pissed off we paid 4 million for a schoolboy ? You need to get a life mate. How deluded are you on here giving stick to a young lad who ran us ragged 2 days ago. Get a load of this guy
I do have a life and you're not my mate. I am also not giving him stick, just saying I didn't think he was worth £4m when we signed him. As for being a schoolboy I don't think he was doing his three R's when he joined us. It has taken him until he is 22 to become a superstar. Remind me what our Phil was doing at 17 and 22 years old. I still don't particularly rate Rogers but good luck to him. One good game! I remember us signing Mickey Horswill on the strength of one good game. That turned out well.

Rogers is not the hill to die on people.

He looked fine in the academt but was never considered special.

What people should be more upset about is the special talenta we let leave, I still think Brahim Diaz should be at the club, that kid cooked every chance Pep gave him.

Other obvious ones are Palmer and Lavia of course, these are the ones where the club truly fucked up.

Not Morgan Rogers, he was never as obvious as the others.

Ha I remember Keegan signing a player after a YouTube video. I think he was Matt Vuoso. Disagree with you about Rogers he’s top player. England has three top quality, central midfielders Rice, Bellingham, and now Rogers.

Diaz was a bit different in that he wanted to go back to Spain and the offer was also from Real Madrid.

Agree on Roger’s though. Yes, he’d get in the side right now ahead of someone like Lewis but he’s no where near as good as the talent we’ve had over the last decade+ and that’s the standard of player we should be looking at.
