Former Academy Kids

It is bizarre that some fans can't accept that we have fucked up our player sales and purcheases in the last two years. Those people who are paid to make judgements on players have blundered. We have sold or released Palmer, Frimpong, Rogers, Lavia, Alvares, Tosin, Harwood-Bellis, even Alex Garcia and Delap. We have bought in players like Nunez and Kalvin Phillips.
I agree in part.
However, most on here thought Chelsea were offering 'crazy money' for Palmer. There is a fair argument, though, that he wasn't given a proper chance. That's not Txixi's fault....

Tosin was sold a long time ago and isn't all that.
Rogers didn't stand out when I watched the EDS, so not gonna say I thought he'd make it.
THB was an interesting one. Some on here rated him highly, others weren't so sure.
He did well in 5 at Burnley but was dropped when they reverted to a back four.
Interestingly they didn't try and sign him permanently.
Delap had some very average loans but he flourished under Rosenior at Hull City, prior to his injury. Still raw but would, no doubt, help us now.

Frimpong was rated very highly by those who watch the EDS; so that was a strange one.
Lavia was a really good player and SHOULD have been kept. I always said that.

Garcia? I liked as well but then I could see why he left.
Alvarez just wanted to be the main striker. We tried to make him a No 10, which he definitely wasn't.
The criminal side wasn't selling him, it was not replacing him!

One thing I will say is we seem very quick to ditch our youth. But that's what FFP wants the top clubs to do.

In summary. Had we kept Lavia and Palmer and not bought Phillips and Nunes we'd be well stocked.
Where we'd be with FFP? I don't know.

Diaz was a bit different in that he wanted to go back to Spain and the offer was also from Real Madrid.
And we are a little too accepting in letting the talents go, I have a problem with that.

Im sure if we gave him assurances of his future at the club and played him more, he would have stayed (heck he wasnt even at madrid most of the time, he spent 2 years at Milan).

Same with Palmer. We didnt try hard enough to keep him, the whole "You can leave if you want to" is something we leaned too hard into as most of those players would have stayed if we gave them assurances.

Yep. The only player Pep went out of his way to push was Eric Garcia! He forced him into the starting lineup when it wasn’t deserved. Wonder why..

Rogers is not the hill to die on people.

He looked fine in the academt but was never considered special.

What people should be more upset about is the special talenta we let leave, I still think Brahim Diaz should be at the club, that kid cooked every chance Pep gave him.

Other obvious ones are Palmer and Lavia of course, these are the ones where the club truly fucked up.

Not Morgan Rogers, he was never as obvious as the others.
Diaz is a completely different situation than the rest as he was always going to leave when one of the big Spanish clubs came calling and is probably the only one of the young players we’ve let leave who moved up rather than down as he joined the European champions at the time

Sometimes it’s the right thing to move them on and we have made good money as well, but considering it’s only foden Lewis and partly Bobb who have played consistently in the first team it’s actually embarrassing considering it all said and done, sometimes it’s situations we find ourselves in like this poor run we are on,that suddenly a player from the EDS shines and proves to be a bonus in the long run, every one isn’t going to shine but by fuck if you don’t give them the chances how will you ever know..

The time to blood youth players into the team is when we’re winning not losing. Pep missed a trick here as he’d only give them a few minutes if we were at least two goals ahead.
Surround them with quality and watch them flourish, don’t chuck them in as a last resort and surround them with first team players who are struggling.

Anyway what do I know
