Forward With Franny

Also, he said that he had a manager lined up to take over from Horton, but he suddenly decided he didn't want the job, which left very little time to bring in a replacement.
.

As previously stated - Brian Kidd - he's signed a contract but then changed his mind, we ended up with Alan Ball and we all know how that played out.

Lee rang Kidd up and said 'have you handed your notice in yet?' To which Kidd said no, to which lee said 'well are you sure you're the right man to manage Manchester City then?' At which point Kidd turned it down.

Typical Franny. Bullish and a bit bullying. Presumably Kidd thought 'I don't want to work for him' because he rocked up at Blackburn after that.

I remember City taking ages to appoint a manager in the summer of 1995.Ball was appointed the manager in July.Remember those fantastic signings Ball made Fronzeck and Immel. To think Immel replaced Coton you could see we were heading for disaster!!!!!.

I had no confidence in Franny to run the club to begin with and the falling crowds made a mocker of the Forward with Franny claims. At least he gave Norman Hunter a good hiding in the Charity Shield.

Turning German international into misfits was just par for the course in the "typical City" days.

We almost invited/wellcomed another ex player to bail us out after Franny.
When it looked like Ray Ranson would come on board.
Fortunatley it was Coventry, and now they are homeless and in administration.
Thank you Sheilk.

yes, a lot forget how we dodged a bullet then.

i took part in all the swales out demo,s outside the maine stand.the sit down protests on the kippax, along with blue 2112.. we thought we were the beez neez..what the fuck did we know?

for my own part, i remember going to leedss when the forward with franny campaign was at its height, chanted some swales out ditty before the match and got into a conversation with an older blue, sitting next to me who asked me..
"yes, but what will franny do? how will he make city better?"

That was it..we argued about franny lee taking over, all the way thru the 1st half, all the way down to the toilets at half time and back again, and most of the second half.we never stopped, didn,t know the bloke from adam, but i was so convinced francis lee was our saviour that i was spouting all this nonsence ,pumped up on 6 pints of strongbow no doubt
..and then city scored and it felt like it was all coming together and i rabbled on about how franny was the future and we need to move forward etc...anyway leeds equalized and i think went on to win the game , i shook the blokes hand and came away,deflated..

turns out that franny wasn,t the future , and the older, wiser blue was right..lost interest in football club politics soon after, decided to concentrate on getting behind the blues and getting pissed.

francis lee was a nightmare chairman. he bought players in not the managers. the Georgians. one for you one for me.

steve coppell. oh yes, so ill with aids he turns up at palace 3 months later and gets them promoted.

nothing was ever his fault. blame this blame that. the sacking of colin bell.

when Bernstein came in you could see the improvement
