France to play in Euro 2016 Qualifying

Makes complete sense.
The Euro 96 in England, England went two years without a competitive game and playing ''lesser'' sides during the process.
The thing about not playing for points is spot on too, to avoid unfair play.
Imagine the scenario with one game to go and England and (say) Ireland need to win their final game to be in with a shout of qualifying..
England are playing (say) Sweden and France play Ireland.
France have already quaified and think to themselves ''who would we rather qualify and face us in the finals - England or Ireland....... and they let Ireland walk away with a nice little win that sees them qualify........ there would be uproar.
This way France get the competitive games (and inside Europe without having to travel to other continents to get a game) without having any influence over the rest of the teams hoping to qualify.
as long as they don't mind playing league of Ireland players, not a hope in hell those cunts are getting a full strength team.

Rubbish idea. What's the point of any team expending energy in a tournament when there's nothing at stake.
We're not there to help the hosts get fit or work out a game plan.

I assume they will acquire ranking points which they would not have got playing friendlies. Therefore if they were to be ranked in the top seeds at the start of the qualifying stages they could be overtaken and go into pot two as a result. This gives them a fair opportunity to play competitively and maintain a top seeded ranking.

Look at Brazil who are now ranked 10th in the world as a result of not playing qualifiers. They are behind Switzerland. If they didn't have so many points to start with they could well be behind Greece England Chile etc

they will never play a first choice team risking players, so therefore would not aquire the points that are on offer for ranking if the ranking was the problem why not give the hosts an automatic amount of ranking points to keep them intouch

How do you justify it if the host nation is in decline or on an upward curve. Say Belgium for example. If they were hosting in two years and say they held their ranking they could be in pot 2 (probably not true but as an example). But if they weren't hosts they could easily win a group with a higher ranked team in if they had to qualify - let's say they topped Switzerland group thus overtaking them in the rankings.

I dare say a host nation would prefer competitive games in preparation for a major tournament.

This is a good idea..............for the french.
Fuck them, if they want to get their fitness levels up let them organise some friendlies themselves.
