Frank Field Quits Labour

He resigned because his CLP voted to deselect, but his statement helps keep him relevent in his own mind.

I expect him to announce he won't stand in the next GE to save the shame of deselection - Hoey already going that way - Stringer next and probably then Mann - its funny how they are all for a democratic party except when the party decides to democratically ask them to leave. Field has always been a New Labour man who can't accept it was a flash in the pan and can't cross the floor as the Tories move even further away to the right from him. He even fell out with Bliar and shan't be missed.

I love fumbles persistance. We have some great left wing loons at he moment - him, blue thru and thru and ricster and len rum. When I see their posts I always imagine them wearing shorts and looking just like Corbyn. Rascal is that extreme he can’t even post anymore!

Its funny coz I always see you with a photo of Thatcher on the wall and Jerusalem blaring out as you read everything JRM related and get slightly engorged with all his Old Tory pronouncements - oh and taking cold showers using carbolic soap every day to prevent anything left of centre lodging in your pores.

This sums the man up wasn't shy of using anti-jewish slurs in the past

Using the anti-semetism row as a cover for his own self inflicted downfall is a shameful act from a horrible man

I always thought he was a decent constituency MP.

He had nothing but distain for his constituents.

So presumably Frank will only be happy when the Labour Party purges itself of people who hold anti semitic views ................like himself

Frank Field was a Labour whip and one of the 35 MPs who originally nominated Corbyn.

So now he's quit he's obviously corrupt Blairite scum.

Who called him blairite? Blair didn't like the bellend either and this has nothing to do with blair and corbyn, field is beyond the pale to a lot of the left, right and centre of labour and has been for a long time.

His vote of no confidence in the CLP was over his brexit stance, he is using antisemitism as a deflection for being put up for deselection for siding with the tories in the last vote on europe.

He nominated Corbyn because he thought there should be a left wing candidate on the ballot paper - give it a sheen of "democracy" - he never thought for one minute Corbyn would win

He and a few others meant that the Tories won the vote so that there would be no pressure on May to quit or call another GE or her successor to call one - one thing Frank wasn't having was the risk of a GE that Labour might win..............he much prefers opposition for "his party" as he doesn't like the leader

Field, Hoey, Stringer and Mann will leave because they're about to be pushed, they are quite distinct cases unified only by the fact they were in the wrong party from day one. Expect anti-Semitism and the fashionable "toxic atmosphere" to get aired ad nauseam.

I expect the blairites to use the anti-Semite card quite a bit on the fringes and outside Labour Party conference, I gather bodyguards are being hired for a number of Jewish MPs, it's all being geared up to create a spectacle, they're praying for something to kick off and no doubt there'll be demonstrations for the camera and high profile speakers creating soundbites for the BBC and the Mail.

I don't think Field going heralds a party split, as you say he'd run out of road, the blairites will keep their powder dry waiting to see what happens at conference and the polls. Not sure where this will end up, if the blairites do take the plunge all they'll do is secure another Tory government and Brexit on Tory terms.

If Corbyn is for turning on Brexit the blairites will temporarily fall in line, without Corbyn they don't have a ground game because precious few members will pound the streets for the likes of Umunna. Of course anti-Semitism will be forgotten, they can resurrect it later once they get what they want on Brexit, assuming, that is, they do get it.

Jews using conspiracy to secretly pull the strings behind the scenes and support their favoured outcome huh?

Always thought Field would find a more natural home in UKIP given the way he bangs on about immigrants every five minutes. Didn’t he also want tougher sanctions to force the unemployed back into work?

Ah well. Free to vote with the Tories now I guess.

Ah well. Free to CONTINUE TO vote with the Tories now I guess.

Edited to reflect recent voting patterns

You can smell the brown shirts coming, no doubt Fields future meeting will be plagued by thugs shouting he`s "Not real labour" and smashing the odd window, Militant has just changed its name to momentum and continues to infiltrate and take over local labour party committees to tip the party even more left.

He voted against Labour on Brexit, well known he's about to become deselected so hands in a resignation letter sighting anti-semitism.

And lets not forget he was one of the new labour lot.

So an anti-semitic has resigned from the Labour party and the right on here are complaining about it?
Do they want rid of anti-semitism or not?

Must be Corbyn's fault

Behind the scenes? No, Whatever this is it's very up front. I fully expect to see Maureen Lipman again and I for one can't wait.

Jews? No, Zionists? Yes. Nothing wrong in that, Zionists are perfectly entitled to campaign on behalf of whatever, Both Netanyahu and Avraham Gabbay are full square behind this campaign. Politics is politics, there's no shame in calling it what it is.

Here's the Front page of the Jewish Telegraph with the "rivers of blood" nonsense.....

The interview was conducted by George Eaton, the political editor of the in-house blairite New Statesman (how the mighty have fallen), interesting to note how "Zionist" is now classed as an ethnic group! When did that happen? Sadly the interview didn't quite have the impact they were hoping for, so I fully expect "Corbyn ate my Hamster" over the weekend.

Time to get real.

The Board of Deputies wants this world back....

That's the ex-chief "rivers of blood" Rabbi Jonathan Sacks standing next to Blair and you'll note Orborne is to his left. At one of these charity events recently all sorts of fun was made at Corbyn's expense with jolly japes from David Walliams and Blair smiling and blushing, everyone had a great time I'm sure.

There's nothing wrong in establishment Jews wanting that world back, what is wrong is when they pretend it's something else.

Damaging stuff for Labour. Field is held in high esteem by his Labour peers. Labour seem to be continually lurching dangerously to the left and ditching anybody who detracts from that stance.

No he isn't, field fell has out with most in labour frequently over the years, isn't popular amongst members and his own CLP and has only quit because his proping up of the tories in the last commons brexìt vote has caused a vote of no confidence and a call to request to remove the whip by said CLP.

Jumped before he was flirted democratically at constituency level and is using the AS row as a smoke sceen to hide this fact, something I find deplorable from the man.

This is about his EU exit stance nothing more, he has dismissed his constituents as meaningless in the past, this time they responded.

Fumble and everyone else, let's stick to field, we don't need another corbyn/jewish community thread, yes he has cited it as his reason for leaving, but I would rarther discuss his record and why he is no great loss, not another going round in circles bun fight that is the corbyn thread.
