Remember the impact he made at the '66 world cup - when he was a 20 year old. Certainly a great player and a great captain and that's how he should be remembered. A sad day.

Played the long gone sweeper position for West Germany, seemed to never break sweat, well respected, you could probably say the German Bobby Moore. Less said the better about his antics at Bayern and Fifa as an executive.

I always remember the sweeper role he played and was puzzled to understand how somebody wanted the ball so much at the edge of the box, The English style was the keeper kicking as long and far as possible for the big man upfront.

Pep has turned that role into something very different and Now the Keeper is a sweeper and all the team can take the ball off the keeper.
