Fraud at work.

Many moons ago I owned a franchise in a medium sized car rental operation at MIA and was sort of headhunted by the manager of another franchise. He had ' something ' going and wanted to know if I was interested. Fuck Off was the reply. He didn't take it too well and that was the last I heard of it. A year or so later I was notified of a new Director of Operation from head office and he was coming down to introduce himself.....non other than the guy in question and I dont know how the hell he'd weaseled himself into that position. He basically wanted to combine my operation with Heathrow and was off to the States to set something up. In the meanwhile I'd sold my franchise back to head office so I was now an employee with a manager and staff from HO and technically now under this guy....not looking good for me....In the meanwhile he'd bought in various plans and ideas, one of which was the reason he was off to the States to set up a deal with a large travel agent. He started demanding alsorts from us in the way of utilisation figures, mine were great and I wasn't going to change, good income with minimum outgoings, he wanted slightly higher figures but that meant much higher outgoings, they didn't add up...
After a few months the deal in the States was done and the punters began to flock over to our office and business was good but still something didn't add up. There was a huge difference between the price the the Yanks were paying and figures we were getting. I finally sussed it but couldn't tell my other director as he was close to this guy. He was basically acting as an agent even though he was a director, charging the Yanks a small fortune at their end but putting through lower figures at our end, his ' cut ' was the middle ground and quite substantial it was.
One of the women at head office was talking to me about these figures and wanted to know how it worked... I told I wasn't exactly sure and didn't want to go round shooting my mouth off as there may be another director involved and I couldn't prove anything really other than the figures didn't add up.
She looked into it and got back to me......'Who brokered the deal ' she asked...I told her.
I was dragged down to head office and told them what I knew and suspected, the Heathrow branch was closed and the twat involved just disappeared.By all accounts the twat did very nicely out of it having previously boasted about buying his wife a brand new Merc Coupe
I still look around for him on social media but to no avail. The guy was the sort of person that will probably do very well fleecing people, or he's already inside. The other director btw was a decent guy and now runs the outfit

Doris and Barbara say hello.

I believe there was a guy at an American motor manufacturer who took a huge bung to commit the company to a sponsorship deal on non-commercial terms with a company operating outside the US in a country where they hardly did any business. The guy got paid off, of course, but that sponsorship deal had to run its course.
