As was said he just tells it how he sees it.

Unfortunately he only seems to 'see it' in various shades, ranging from black through to grey.

Used to be fitting perhaps when we were shit, but now stands out as a relic, stuck in his ways and stuck firmly in the past.

Either needs to update his schtick and figure out things have changed or be put out to pasture for me.

It depends how much of it is tongue in cheek though doesn't it?
I've supported City for 34 years and for a lot of that time its been 'whats going to cock up next' and even now I still sometimes think that.
One of the things that keeps us going is the dark or sarcastic sense of humour that we seem to do better than anyone else, personnally i hope we don't lose that because it keeps us grounded.

Don't mind Fred but Gleghorn is a cretin. I refuse to listen to the station after the match he's that bad.

the only live commentary i could find last night was bbc radio manchester - had to switch eyre off and listen to talkshite updates instead , he is so negative he is pathetic - what is the problem with the local bbc coverage ? eyre and gleghron are 2 of the most miserable gits i have ever heared in my life . absolutely zero positive comments from either most of the time
I think Fred is Superb his knowledge is second to none he says it how he sees it .he reads the game well & is easily one of the best commentators around

didn't gleghorn only play for us for a season or two?......the bloke is a fuckin sunderland fan so why is he on every week, i remember listening to him on the way back from a city-sunderland game a while back after we'd won and he sounded like he was going to fuckin cry because we'd beat his beloved team.....never liked him since that day.
Gleghorn also commentates for Stoke every other week

I have to say the fact that Gleghorn a slef confessed Sunderland fan who played for City for 2 games 20 years ago embarrassing

I find with Fred that he seems to have an underlying air of negativity. There are always positives to take out of a game but he never seems to find them. Even with good performances he finds something negative to focus on yet with a negative performance he never tries to find a positive

I think that, generally, if you follow a team, you are harder on them than any other.

I do have a bit of a problem watching us play, particularly on telly, i get annoyed at the slightest mistakes, i am not happy with a one nil or two one win, i want to see the oppsition anihilated, complete domination, i want NO mistakes, NO misplaced passes, i want perfection.

If i find myself doing this, i can understand why Fred Eyre, who is a fervent supporter, does this as well. I see it as a sign that he IS a blue, and cos he loves the club, he wants the very best performance every time.

The Kippax was full of fans with his attitude,so maybe it's an age thing,a city legacy of the past. For those who dont get it,this dark humour helped us survive the blackest times in the club's history, but we still have the scars so criticising some one like Fred feels like a personal dig at those who do 'get it'. Prickly, or what? :)

blue did you watch the juve game and see anything more than a ramshackle effort by a team who will prob be sold in jan!?! we were dire apart from a few exceptions! Fred tells it like it is! What do you want to hear...that we were outstanding over 90 mins and should be in the chumps league?that we should have been 9-0 up!

we were shit and Fred knows this and commented appropriately! whats this "when we were shit" i've watched 95% of games this year and i think we have been shit plenty! .. good job i'm not a commentator!

Good work fred, keep it up!
