Manchester City are still trying to tie up a deal for Fred - despite accepting he won’t join this month.
The Brazilian has emerged as City’s No.1 long-term replacement for Fernandinho.
Shakhtar have no plans to sell this month but City hope to complete a deal, which will see him arrive in the summer.
The Manchester Evening News reports City may get their man for £50m.
So he will come in the summer , but city want the deal done now

could be a mistake not pushing this through to be honest. yes we have `options` if dinho gets injured but they arent as good as him!

Its not just down to us though Shaktar and even Fred himself have a say. Its not just about this season either we are building a team to last a few years, if we have to wait until summer and Fred has been identified as the best option , then we wait. Could be an option, as Fernandinho obviously can’t play every game. Toure’s no longer up to it, and I don’t think DM is Gundogan’s best position, so we need to do something to ease the burden on Fernandinho. Wasn’t Danilo touted as a potential DM when we signed him too?
Getting Fred now would be a huge boost for the rest of the season, but it was always going to be difficult to get him in January with Shakhtar still in the CL and not under any real financial pressure to sell their best players.

Would prefer to put Ota in midfield tbh, seems the more comfortable of the two joining the attack.Maybe signing Laporte allows us to use Stones in midfield if necessary

get them both and its a case of if Carlsberg did transfer windowsWowzer, if we get Fred on top of Laporte in january it would be beyond amazing. What a squad. One striker and one left back away from perfection.
