Free Loft and Cav wall insulation (also all landlords props)

Re: Free Loft and Cavity wall insulation.

Surveyor been today. Having loft done next week, and cavity wall insulation done early May. Not sure yet if they can do the gable end yet as they would have to stand on the garage roof. They'd have to decide if they thought it was safe enough first. Hope they can do it as that's the main wall, got my doubts though.

Did they come Di?

Yes, they came about 6pm.

I can actually tell the difference, especially in my bathroom. Turned the heating off about 45 minutes ago and it's still warm in there, where as before it would've lost the heat by now.

Cavity wall insulation early May.

Cheers Daz

Re: Free Loft and Cavity wall insulation.

Important to note that the reason why you have a cavity inbetween the bricks of your house is to stop moisture from the outside, penetrating through the bricks and into the inside of the house. So if you bridge that gap, then you increase the possibility of damp/mould/brick corrosion? The correct way to insulate a cavity is to fill it with padded aluminium boards that water cannot penetrate. Or at the very least, don't even consider cavity wall insulation if your house has not had a damp proof course, because you're basically letting the outside in.
