Cavity Wall insulators just came. Won't do side of house because of standing on the garage roof which is asbestos. Didn't think they would. They could only do the back and front of the house. Had a look at my gas fire and said it's over 7kw which means they'd have to install a vent. The surveyor who previously surveyed it all said if you're fire is over 7kw it'd need a vent, and when he saw that it was 7.5kw he said it'd be ok and put down it didn't need one. Well it does need one! Obviously having a vent installed would mean a draught coming through, which would be totally pointless in having the cavity walls insulated as I'd feel no benefit.
Oh well, at least I've had my loft insulated which was needed.

Only if you've had an extension where the original main wall is still inside your house. If I would've had mine done then they'd have had to access my front porch from inside.

Just seen this fuzzy.
Sorry for all your messing about.
Can I ask who the surveyor was?
salfordpaul said:fuzzy aside from the cavity wall insulation, if you have a fire over 7kw output YOU NEED PURPOSE MADE VENTILATION ! you and your familys lives can be in danger if you don t have it!!
i'm gas safe reg. do not use that fire without ventilation ! the result can be deadly !
A room sealed appliance, inlet and outlet are led to the outside using a natural concentric pipe system (100 mm/150 mm) (no power fan required). No additional ventilation is required.
