Free loft insulation.

A poster was offering it called I'M NOT REALLY HERE last year. Think it was Warmfront he worked for. I had my loft done. Didn't have the cavity wall insulation done because they couldn't gain access to the side of my house because of the garage.

I've recently had yet another firm come round and do a survey called EUM consultants who reckon they can do the cavity wall by lancing it from the sides of the house. They also do loft insulation.

They say it's free even if you're working but when I asked who pays for it he told me my energy supplier. When I asked him would my bills go up after I had it done he said all energy providers have already put up their prices. So like others have said that is where you pay for it.

Current fund is called ECO
Every energy bill contains a levy which contributes to the fund wether you benefit or not

There are 3 strands of ECO

1) CSCO - postcode based - free loft and cavity wall if you live in the right area
2) HHCRO - benefit driven - aimed at fuel poverty- free loft and cavity wall if you on certain (restricted ) benefits - and a free boiler if yours is below 86% seasonal efficiency and can be demonstrated to be working inefficiently
3) CERO - based on construction type of building, specifically those known as Hard to Treat - narrow cavities, 3 stories or above, partial filled cavity (kingspan etc but funding is limited and based on carbon saving), properties needing 4 or more hours of remedial work.
Lofts can be done only as a secondary measure ie after the walls

Job Worth Doing Ltd, based in Winsford, specialise in the 3 storey properties with access issues etc requiring specific access equipment. Cherry Pickers, Scissor lifts etc

British Gas did mine too ... didn't cost me a penny !

this is a fallacy mate....everyones gas and electric bills have risen to pay for this works

Can see your point , but bills would have risen anyway .... Miliband the magnificent reckons he's gonna put a two year freeze on them if he gets into power , but , despite his assurances to the contrary , the third year could prove to be an expensive one !

In France the govt tells the energy companies what rises they can charge so whilst EDF and the rest have fucked us over with double digit rises several times a year in France last year they couldn't go above 5% , and you know what, the lights didn't go out!
