"Freedom" marches/rallies

So Insulate Britain block roads = Great

Canadian truckers block roads = Bad

It’s not great when threads go the exact same way each and every time. You simply can not bemoan one group blocking roads and demanding they be kettled whilst defending another and demanding police action against them be stopped.
Not me. I’d allow them both to do their thing. When they get to wherever they want to go and stamp their feet a bit, they’ll go home as neither have an actual plan to improve things.

Where do you put the road blocks? these drivers have been driving for days, so they had plenty of warning. Go Fund me received $10 million in donations for these truckers and so entered a contract to deliver it, they also can not refund all of it. and it was on security advice that he left for a secret location,
Makes me laugh when you get all these jabbed up people hating those that stand up for rights given at birth.

The truckers are blocking city streets - you put Police vehicles across intersections boxing them in leaving only footpaths clear - its not rocket science.
Your contract doesn't matter - it was reported on the news last night Go Fund Me were already refunding donations.
My right at birth was the freedom to roam and once qualified drive the city streets - these cry babies who are afraid of a needle are preventing me to avail myself of those fights.

Views vary based on the cause being championed. One is a group of people glueing themselves to roads over climate change (sympathetic), the other is a group of people blocking roads with trucks as part of an anti-vaxx campaign fuelled (no pun intended) by foreign cash (not sympathetic).

Personally, I’m all for a spot of civil disobedience irrespective of the cause, but if the cause is one I’m not sympathetic too (anti-vaxx, fascism, hurting animals), then I’m not going to support them. Sure, they are free to protest, but equally I’m free to oppose them. I’m not obliged to support the aims of every protest movement.

Im the opposite in that they where breaking the law by blocking the roads and thus the protests should be broken up.

There has to be a better way of getting your point across surely?

You’d think so. I’m not even sure what the protest in Canada is all “aboat”. Haven’t their freedoms now returned?

Also 6 people glue themselves to the glass doors of a Govt office or a street junction - result a few hours of inconvenience for a small number of people. Two weeks of gridlock in a major city with horns blaring 24/7 means massive disruption to hundreds of thousands of people and businesses.

The ultimate payoffs? If insulate Britain are to succeed then you get better insulated homes and action on climate change - a win/win
Truckers succeed - anti-vaxxers win the right to travel cross border and catch and spread a disease. Ultimately could lead to more lock downs and more restrictions as the pandemic is dragged out by peoples selfish actions

Truth? It’s in Canada, I really don’t know either or care tbh but as ever, the fixation with all things North American on here takes us down that road lol

If they’re demanding that everybody sees their truth, they may be there a while and get grumpier and grumpier as the rest of us laugh at them.

There will be a similar minority of nut jobs that try it here too.

It’s a minority that literally live on social media and it’s group think at its worst.
