Frenkie de Jong

Not convinced by him or the need for him. Seems kind similar to our midfielders now. Feel like we need something a bit different - strong, powerful midfielder

Can already see being linked with him all summer then him ending up at United to "reunite with Ten Haag" and definitely not because they'll offer a lot higher wage..

IMO, FDJ is not possible at this moment. With Barcelona rebuilding its squad, I can't see they let go the backbone of the team that has been rebuilding.
Beside that, Frenkie signed new contract until 30 June 2026 with buyout clause set up at 400M EUR and nearly 350k/w Image if we were to reconstruct our squad and offer Rodri in a transfer market. For me, he is an exceptional player with better overall rating than Rodri. He would be massive signing for us, but I'm sceptical.

they desperately need cash flow and book profits mate? They are getting Kessie on a free and Soler for £20m but can get £60m for de jong and his huge wages off their wage bill as the two new signings combined will be alot less than de jong?

A random read of a few barca account aggregators, majority are happy to get rid of him and ask barca to take Bernardo in a swap.

Age is at his side, both him and his Ajax buddy de ligt haven't really impressed at all.

Of course under Pep, it hopefully can be a different story.

Let's see what happens

Don't buy it personally.

Dream scenario for me would be keep Gundogan one more year and buy Bellingham.

If Bernardo still wants to leave, keep Gundo for longer and buy Bellingham.

We need another Yaya, not another neat and tidy but not very physical midfielder.

Suppose it depends upon whether one of our current midfielders is leaving (other than Fernandinho), but we should be looking to introduce more pace into the team rather than replicate what we have currently.

Losing Sane and likely Sterling would take a lot of dynamism out of the side relative to what we had at our best in 17/18.

If we're intrested in FDJ I suspect it means Bernardo could be leaving because both players are very similar.

FDJ is not a Fernandinho replacement for DM he could play the Gundogan role but hes slow and lacks physicality.

I'd rather wait a year for Bellingham or sign Tchouameni now if he's not already set on Real Madrid. I've noticed that City dont like signing players on loan, we could sign cover for Rodri for a year and then go for a LB and RB for this summer.
