Frenkie de Jong

Barca are in financial crisis

Asking everyone every summer to lower their wages.

Just in case he was available, we should be ready for that moment
Maybe so, but I reckon they’ll try and get rid of some of the paste and semi-precious stones and keep the gems like him. If he did become available, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Bayern Munich became an interested party as well.

We signed Rodri that summer. Hypothetical, I know, but I’m not sure we’d have been quite as successful as we have been if we’d signed de Jong that summer.

Hard to know really. His class isn’t in doubt, but I do think he pissed off our boys as they were certain he’d given his word at the time.

File next to Dani Alves I guess.

Frenkie is the perfect Pep player and would fit into the system seamlessly. And if there is any time to exploit Barcelona’s demise it is now.
With Pep and Txiki we also have enough firepower to convince Frenkie and screw Barcelona at the same time.

But I don’t think Txiki or Pep gonna do it. We don’t screw with clubs as the rags and the History clubs are used to. We go for release clauses because it is straight forward.
but this is the best time to exploit Barcelona and get some of their gems. If the clubs conditions were reversed I know they would do it and take Gundo Laporte BSilva from us.

"Barca are in financial crisis"

Amazing that a club in "crisis" can raise 1.3 billion Euros for a stadium rebuild if they are in "crisis"!

Barcelona are fucked because of the rules of LaLiga, rules that are killing a once great league.

Without coming across like a **** here - they play in La Liga so regardless of funding a €1.3b stadium, they still (seem to) need to conform to La Liga and their financial rules. Which they can’t seem to do.

They got rid of their best ever player, they’ve had to demote one of the best La Masia products in years to the youth setup because they can’t afford to offer him a contract and they’ve been bargain hunting (Alonso, they wanted Azpilicueta, Auba, Depay) for a few years aside from last Summer which was an obvious ploy of ‘we’re not fucked, honestly!’

They won’t get rid of FDJ, shame really, but apparently his wages are extortionate and they were flying him to Manchester themselves in the Summer to the rags. So a man can dream.

Barca are still a huge club, that's my point.

Their financial demise is greatly overestimated, yes they have issues but so have 95% of clubs.

They have the ability to raise 100s of millions every season in revenue, so they are hardly in crisis and with financial institutions prepared to lend them 1.3 billion they are not seemed as a 'risk'

The same was said when Laporte rejected us the first time.
Slight difference, Laporte signed an contract extension with a buy out clause he didn’t sign for Barcafuckinglona after agreeing to join us and even pick out a property in leafy Cheshire
Anyway FDJ will go nowhere no one can afford to pay him what he earns at Camp Nou

I think they have huge debt

Couldn't renew the contract of Messi

Spent last summer trying to sell FDJ and get rid of his high salary

Asked almost every other player to lower their salary

Sold their future revenues to avoid more financial troubles.

Why Madrid are not struggling financially while Barca are ? even though the rule is the same.

Ibai Llanos: "How much money does Barcelona owe you?"

Piqué: "0 euros. I left, and I gave up my salary."

Ibai Llanos: "I sh*t on Laporta's mother. If you ask for the money, Barça will give it to you?"

Piqué: "They give it to you in Monopoly money." *laughs*

Surprised we’re not having another sniff at this guy as part of the Gundogan deal?
If he’s going, then Gundogan is leaving on a free, so there Is no deal to be had. De Jong is settled in Barcelona and unlikely to leave for either us or for that lot. He’ll be 27 next May and still contracted through ‘26, so we should consider him a ‘schip’ that has sailed.

There was no Gundogan deal. His contract runs out in a week's time.

But yeah I'd throw the kitchen sink at them for de Jong. Problem is they're his dream club and he's come off the back of a brilliant season. He's vital to them.
Remember watching an interview with him when he was breaking through at Ajax and he admitted that he preferred Real Madrid to Barcelona, but when it came time to move, the lure of Barcelona and Messi was greater.
