Frenkie de Jong

We need an extra body in midfield with this season, world cup and all.

Phillips is clearly going to miss a lot of football and an injury to KDB, Gundo or Bernardo and we are seriously short.

FDJ is also a long term replacement for Gundo and we have to start thinking of that issue.

I don't disagree with any of that. But it won't be FDJ, it is obvious the club have absolutely zero interest in him.

This guy is quality and would be great under pep . Why are we not interested ?

mixture of things i reckon mate......... The wages, the fact Pep doesnt normally go back for players who change their mind on him, it seems Bellingham is the chosen one now for our midfield as well?

I'm wounded by it but I think those are true, specifically the wages. Plus the fact De Jong does seem set on making things work at Barca despite being treated like shite this past Summer.

We went back for Laporte (and somebody else but I can't remember who) so I think it depends on the position - if it's a specific skillset required then the pool of players that fit is smaller.

Centre midfield, there's a load of them available and a lot who can be moulded - more so than centre back, probably why we went back to Eric.

yeah Laporte at that time was EXACTLY what we needed? I believe he also initiated contact over the move and explained why it didnt happen first time around and how he was now ready and the club did the deal.

His contract was leaked this summer by Barcelona, his wages are nothing special. €200k/week before Barcelona started messing about with deferrals.

The stuff about him earning 400k,500k,600k/week etc when he joined Barcelona was all bullshit.

Thought the rags were nailed on to sign him :)-

Would be the ideal candidate if there is any truth to the Bellingham news today.

Also, would be the closest thing of true value we could potentially get back from losing Silva, assuming a swap+small fee deal could be worked out.

But let’s be honest - working on any type of deal with Barcelona is pulling teeth. Impossible club to deal with.

The scenes if FDJ were open to a move to City opposed to the rags would be worth the laughs alone.

Why an impossible club to deal with?

We sold them Toress at a superb price and they want Laporte, Bernardo and maybe Cancelo.

They simply don't have the cash to pull those deals off and need to get huge sums off their wage bill, so a swop deal is a real possibility.

The major issue is FDJ, his father has stated he does not want to come anywhere near Manchester and his wages are obscene, even for a club of our wealth.

So if you can get him to consider living in Manchester and take a large wage cut, there well maybe a deal to be had.

That's right. We all know the only one earning money like that is Haaland.

Good points. I was more so speaking to their outgoing business. They seem to vastly over value their players (as does every club to an extent) and place little to no emphasis on their players transfer requests. That combined with their obvious accounting gymnastics makes them seem like a less than ideal partner to do business with at the moment.

Tell me a club that doesn't over value players!

We recently have received huge amounts for players that haven't even worn our first team shirt.

Marvellous last game, back on top.

I see the chance of it happening to 1 percent though.
